maybe. NYU specifically said that they'd refund app fees if you got a waiver after submitting though, so that would be weirdpulstar1 wrote:Is it because you already submitted your apps?xylocarp wrote:got UCLA but no Penn or NYU for the record

Does anyone know if Michigan sends out unsolicited waivers?

Re: 2014-2015 Fee Waivers
I'm sorry if this a really obvious or old news--I've searched the forums and the article on fee waivers but nothing jumped out of me. With the fee waiver emails, I've noticed a lot of the links in the email (to check out the viewbook, read more about clinics, etc) aren't just links to those main pages, but rather are long and perhaps individualized? Some of this is only obvious when you hover over the link in the email. Like a tiny-url, the address at the top of the page you open appears normal. But in some cases (like the one I got from Penn today) doesn't redirect you, making it a bit more obvious.
Does anyone know if these are individual (so they can track our interest or...?)? Or if maybe they send out one link per batch of waivers just to see how effective the timing/targeting that population/whatever was? Or maybe it's a hugeconspiracy study run through LSAC to find out if people are applying to schools that they don't have interest in to help schools reject those merely gaming scholarships. (I know my lack of posts might indicate otherwise, so I'll clear up now that I'm kidding. Mostly.)
I'm sure any effect it would have on an admissions is negligible, but if there's any chance it could help/or hurt, I don't want to blow it. And as I often file the fee waivers away immediately upon receiving them and don't use those specific links when checking out websites, I'm wondering if I should change my practice? Or if I click on each link 180 times in the Penn email if they'll love me so much more than if I just click one. That would be ridiculous, right? (Again: Kidding. Mostly.)

I'm pretty sure its bc the waivers are sent through LSAC so its some long redirect link from LSAC to the actual school website.

We use a email blast system at work at it can track who opens the email and who clicks on the links so they probably do have this data through their system. Who knows if it actually effects admissions though.neverland wrote:I'm sorry if this a really obvious or old news--I've searched the forums and the article on fee waivers but nothing jumped out of me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Berk doesn't give merit-based waivers.Colonel_funkadunk wrote:I also got penn unsolicited. Hoping for Michigan and Berkeley

That's the reason I'm not applying to berk.

They indeed do not. But at least they're giving need-based waivers to those who have an LSAC waiver, unlike those pricks at Stanford, who have you fill out their own 2-page form.w0w wrote:That's the reason I'm not applying to berk.Dream_weaver32 wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but Berk doesn't give merit-based waivers.Colonel_funkadunk wrote:I also got penn unsolicited. I got Vanderbilt unsolicited. I didn't get Penn, even though I got one last year. Is this normal for re-applicants? I am retaking this month. Once I get a new LSAT score, will the "system reset" and the fee waivers will start substantially coming in?
