Re: Deferred at Cornell (2012 EA Applicants)
I'm still sitting on no updates since I was deferred. I probably should write a LOCI today. I wrote a one paragraph one saying that I'd like to still be considered, but not a full-on letter.

Re: Deferred at Cornell (2012 EA Applicants)
there was already a wave of acceptances in mid january, another group that has been stuck at a 1/16 update, and those that havent heard anything. im guessing there will be another wave of admits within a few weeks, with the rest of people riding the waitlist (i assume that EA applicants that werent rejected by now will at least get waitlisted)lollipop555 wrote:any ideas on when deferred applicants typically hear back?

Re: Deferred at Cornell (2012 EA Applicants)
Last year deferred applicants heard back in waves every week-ish between the middle of February and the end of March. I was deferred in late December and accepted 2/28. However, there were several waves of acceptances before/after me. So if you miss the boat once, its not the end of the world.lollipop555 wrote:any ideas on when deferred applicants typically hear back?

Also I wrote two LOCIs and I think it helped. If you are marginal, you want to show that you'll help their yield.dproduct wrote:You give me hope.ImNoScar wrote:Last year deferred applicants heard back in waves every week-ish between the middle of February and the end of March. Re: Deferred at Cornell (2012 EA Applicants)
I wrote an initial LOCI that was pretty much high-class begging. I used the desperation font. Sent in an updated resume... and will send another LOCI if come March I'm still waiting. Might as well go balls to the wall!ImNoScar wrote:Also I wrote two LOCIs and I think it helped. Thats almost exactly what I did. The first was begging. The second involved me getting promoted at my old job, which made for a great excuse to send a resume update. Dont lose hope. Good luck!dproduct wrote:I wrote an initial LOCI that was pretty much high-class begging. I used the desperation font. Re: Deferred at Cornell (2012 EA Applicants)
Curious, did anyone research what the success rate of deferred applicants is at cornell? Ether via lsn or from last years admissions thread?

I'm still at two post-deferral updates (I think 12/16 and 1/16), then nothing.
I'm in the same place. Looking at last year's Cornell thread, many people waited until end of February/early March, only to be put on some sort of reserve list (aka the same as being deferred...). A lot of them had 4 or 5 updates post-deferral, too, it looks like. guess we should prepare to be waiting for a while longer.

Hopefully!! and maybe it will be earlier because we have that january update, as well? It doesn't look like that happened last year? Unclear. They mention a possible december update, but I didn't see any january.

Or, (on the pessimistic side), it already came? Hopefully not, but it's possible.T20hopeful89 wrote:hhockberger wrote:It also looks like last year there was a huge wave of EA deferred > admits around the third week of February, so hopefully that's coming. It seemed like very few were accepted back in mid-january, right? hopefully that wasn't the "huge" wave.elblufer wrote:Or, (on the pessimistic side), it already came?
