This. I couln't agree with you more.Wipfelder wrote:
There are, in fact, a great many people (mostly military people) who think we actually won the Iraq war, and did a great job in Baghdad/Iraq. The DoD is an Echo Chamber of frightening proportions.

I agree. Running away from a lunatic with a knife down the scenic New Haven streets is one of the only surefire ways to stay in shape.KissMyAxe wrote:All these people have to be joking. Oh you go there? I guess the point of your post was to brag. I thought you were somehow trying to be funny since New Haven is an urban environment without comparable mountains to Shenandoah/Blue Ridge, and was trying to helping you out.

You can actually get to a good deal of dayhiking from NYC.for example:
http://www.nycdayhiking.com
Also the Appalachian Mountain Club has an office in the city.
http://www.amc-ny.org/activities/#.WIjx3oE8KEc
You can get to the Catskills easily as well.
The Hudson River Valley is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
If you are a rock climber some of the best climbing in the Northeast is 90 minutes away.

No, I wasn't bragging. I think you just missed the joke. New Haven is pretty dangerous outside of the immediate area of the school, and so hiking around there would definitely get your heart rate up. I think some others got the joke. There is nothing in the T14 even close to UVA if it comes to the outdoors. Duke is within driving distance (The Pisgah National Forest is especially awesome), but nothing in it's immediate vicinity (though it is close to some nice beaches). Speaking of schools though, Rigo, I tried to look up where you ended up going, since we were studying for the LSAT around the same time, but couldn't see it. Where are you at?Rigo wrote:Oh you go there? I guess the point of your post was to brag. Saw this and chuckled.
I'd assume Cornell, Michigan, & UVA would have hiking trails near them. Good is subjective.
