Hated the dudes that pledged the frat I rushed. My friends all joined a TT and I didn't want to join a place that would bid dudes without meeting them.

-I like my school, but in retrospect I should have at least considered EDing NU for the 150k
-I would actually have gone to law school a year or two earlier (I'm several years out). Just personal timeframe stuff.
-Majored in engineering to open up patent prosecution (?)
Otherwise no real regrets. While finals periods were really, really, really awful, law school has been fine otherwise. I think I might even enjoy the next two years of my life.

Would've skipped college and become a writer, serving and/or bar tending for cash until the sale of my first novel. If I failed I'd still have zero debt and the opportunity to go wherever I want and do whatever the fuck I felt like trying next. God I can't even imagine the freedom.

1) Don't major in political science. It is useless, not a science, and you learn about all these theories "realism" "neoclassicalism" etc. that professors just make up to get published that they pick and choose from history to prove their points. The readings have sentences that are half a page long, where you forget what the subject is.
2) Study abroad anywhere but England. You will never have a shot to do something like that again.
3) Major in math and work for an investment bank. Finance or accounting if you can't manage math. You start out at 70k plus 50k bonus at a BB.

You will. No idea why everyone makes law school sound so terrible. Outside of the month surrounding finals, law school is great.banjo wrote:-I like my school, but in retrospect I should have at least considered EDing NU for the 150k

Finished college around my 19th birthday, and I wish I'd gone for a commission in the Army Reserve/NG at that point. If I had, I'd probably be rolling around on 2/3 - 3/4 of the GI bill and Veteran's Preference for selective DA's offices.
Also, my school didn't have grades. Wtf, why didn't I go for STEM?

Get better than a 2.7 in highschool by about a point. Go to a much better college. Stay all four years. Focus on hitting a 3.5+ instead of getting the same g.p.a. as highschool. Actually study for the LSAT. Use a good LSAT score to go to a good consulting firm. Study abroad. Oh hindsight.
EC's+Social+fraternity in college at least was fun.

As a rising junior political science major who is (obviously) wanting to go to law school, this thread is extremely encouraging...
I take it I should get a finance/accounting minor. I'm like three classes shy of finishing poli sci so there's no use in giving that up.
