Well, if its Hofstra, OP has 50% chance of losing his/her scholarship.derfs wrote:Good chance that it's Hofstra. I gathered that from their Fall Registration Form. It uses the exact same language.
I understand that by signing and returning this form, I will be formally matriculated as a Juris Doctorate candidate at Hofstra Law.
Bye Bye Scholly
Wouldn't surprise me at all if Hofstra stacked a section with all scholarship students and forced most of them to lose their money.

Re: Is my enrollment form binding?
Hey guys, I blanked out the school in my conversation for a reason. I hope you guys can respect that because there is a very real possibility that I may have to attend school there.
There are things I fudge a little here and there to not give out too much detail. Since someone has checked my post history, yes - I realize I have a super low chance of making it into my dream school. However, one thing I have omitted is the fact that I am on multiple waitlists and while my chances are low for my dream school, I can't say much about the rest of my waitlists. The dilemma still stands where I have no guarantee which schools might accept me (or none) and if their scholarship offered is enough for me to back out of a school that's giving me a free ride.

A. You will be withdrawn from School X if you don't send in the signed "agreement."
B. Sitting out and not going to law school this year is not an option.
If A and B are true (correct me if I am wrong) and you don't get off another waitlist by July 5, you have to send in the signed enrollment agreement. Where's the dilemma?

Re: Is my enrollment form binding?
They are ABA accredited but the policy Dean Perez was talking about is LSAC's policy which even though most schools follow, is not enforced.
My dilemma is that if I sign, I'm effectively giving up any hope of going to any of my waitlisted school versus if I don't sign, I can potentially not have a school to go to in the fall. While I am tempted to just sign it and if by chance I do get accepted to a waitlisted school, I will then tell my safety school that I am withdrawing. The caveat is that I might get reported to LSAC's misconduct and mismanagement community that Dean Perez briefly mentioned and I really don't want any sort of notations in my file.

DO NOT GO TO THAT SCHOOL. No one has a gun to your head and is forcing you to attend in the fall.FifisMilkshake wrote:They are ABA accredited but the policy Dean Perez was talking about is LSAC's policy which even though most schools follow, is not enforced.

You don't HAVE to go to that school, and I suggest that you don't.
Ride out the waitlist, and pray that you get into a better school. If not, I'd strongly suggest that you sit out this cycle and reapply/retake, or whatever it would take to get you into a better school.
