Depending on the size of x midlaw firm, they might have a small summer associate program where they bring in one or two grads per year, but these situations are so few and far between (and contingent on serious ties) that TLS says to not even think about them as a realistic possibility as a 0L.
OK. Looked up biglaw and midlaw and cleared some things up.
I decided to expand my e-commerce business instead of studying for the LSAT. Made a decent sized chunk of cash and moved out of my parents home and did some travelling/partying. My business was recently shutdown...no legal consequences but also no more income. I panicked and registered for the LSAT and will begins studying tomorrow for the December exam. As I understand it, it will be next to impossible to get into a top 40 school this cycle. What are my chances of increasing my score to a 159/160 in 3 weeks so that I can at least get into Cardozo/Brooklyn/St. Johns ?

Another thing I am worried about according to this http://www.lsac.org/docs/default-source ... ba2990.pdf the median for Cardozo is 3.60/164 whereas on their site http://www.cardozo.yu.edu/admissions/jd ... profile-jd they state their medians are 160/3.50 , I don't understand this discrepancy. Brooklyn is doing the same thing http://www.brooklaw.edu/admissions/stat ... stics.aspx http://www.lsac.org/docs/default-source ... ba2047.pdf

Law school is not for the impulsive or depressed. Neither is the life of a lawyer.

Nobody can truly opine as we don't know you well enough but three weeks is nothing in the context of LSAT studying. Also, those schools blow.

I am no longer depressed instead over the past 5 months I increased two fold my understanding of the world.

I would go based on the information from their websites. LSAC may not be updated yet. Regardless, I'd want both my GPA/LSAT to be above the 75ths from both of those schools in order to try to get a full ride. Also, understand that both schools have stipulations attached that require you maintain a certain GPA to keep your scholarships.

Brooklyn is notorious for this and I believe I've read something like nearly half of people entering with scholarships will lose their scholarships after their first year.

Brooklyn definitely section stacks. Please cross them off your list.
St. John's isn't reputable either.

You should pay more attention to employment numbers instead of rankings, and realize that your rush to get into law school without fully maximizing your LSAT to go with your awesome GPA is likely to be the single worst decision of your life, at least financially.

There is absolutely NO TRUTH to the idea that Brooklyn stacks its sections. No Dean nor faculty member would approve it. The reality is that many students receive scholarships of one type or another so every section appears to be stacked.

As to the high percentage of Brooklyn Law Students losing scholarships, again, this is simply not true. Their own website gives that retention data.http://www.brooklaw.edu/Admissions/fina ... ships.aspx?

If most students receive some sort of conditional scholarship, contingent upon keeping a certain GPA or class rank, then couldn't you say a school "class-stacks," rather than section stacks? Is this not even worse?

Solid first couple of posts; are you working for the school or one of the poor souls who attends it?

A quick look at their 2014 509 can tell you that with respect to scholarship retention, things have improved at BLS, but look at where they started from a mere three years ago:
2013-2014 Academic Year Starting: 270 Eliminated: 32
2012-2013 Academic Year Starting: 259 Eliminated: 42
2011-2012 Academic Year Starting: 260 Eliminated: 137
Hmmm I dunno about you but to my mind "simply not true" doesn't quite capture the fact of the matter looking at 2011-12, does it now?
