Plenty of folks have expressed similar sentiments on the 1L threads (i.e. LetsGOLAW

)
"Briefing cases is a good use of your time".
Both these statements surprise me I thought rule 1 of law school is "don't be that guy?" Isn't that the TLS consensus or do legit posters here actually think being a gunner is a long-term advantageous proposition?
2) Isn't efficient and effective case briefing and course outlining each week like the most determinative factor that separates students who excel from the slackers and space cadets who wonder why they got smoked by their peers their 1L year?

Given my extremely well developed social skills, I am going to hold off on giving you relationship advice you did not request.

There are two meanings of gunning. One is approved by most of TLS while the other isn't.
The first is meaning to ask a ton of questions in class, insane hypos, drive everyone else crazy, all that. Don't be that guy.
The second is to "gun" in the sense that you study a lot, and kill it on grades. Most encourage this.
ETA: And no, most people stop briefing after a few weeks, and most regard it as a timesink. Outlining can be important, but it hardly is the reason for separation.

Just go to the highest ranked USNWR school you can get into. The rankings are the most important thing.

Have you considered Princeton Law?
The reason it is competitive to get into a good law school isn't because there just are not enough law schools to meet demand.
