Thank you for the insightful posts. I really appreciate your passion and congratulate you for your drive. :D I agree, the responsibilities are all the same.

Here is my next question - and it is all hypothetical:
I think someone posted on here earlier that I should attend either of these schools ONLY if I have a full ride from each. That's a tall order, given that I applied to LLS late.

With that being said, if I somehow pulled off a full ride to Southwestern and half a ride to LLS, which one should I attend? My initial intuition says LLS because of the better Bar passage rate, but the thought of graduating with 0 tuition loans from Southwestern is extremely appealing.

Also, since going to a UC is out of the question because I am not about to give up my current salary and take out loans to pay my mortgage, I could always re-take the LSAT and apply to LLS next year to see if they throw more money my way. But for what I hear, they throw most of their money to FT applicants. Another issue with this is that since I'm older, waiting one more year to attend law school will cut my working life by one year, which at my age it's pretty significant. And I don't think I can convince my spouse to agree with this  What are your thoughts on this?

I had UVA at full price last year. Now I have Northwestern with a 150k scholly. I think waiting was the right decision for me. The less debt you have, the more jobs you can feasibly take. Im only a few years out of undergrad. These schools place very similarly. I think going for full price would have been a mistake.

Full ride to SWLAW is nice. But what are the stipulations?
You are going to struggle and compete for grades against young kids who are not working all day like you.
They will have much more time to prepare, read, study, and perform.
Your grades will reflect that, and your scholarship will disappear.
...SWLAW knows this...
FEAR them.
(edit: this goes for Loyola too. What are the stips there ?)

If you can get NO stipulations, then this is good for you.

I see very little difference in Loyola or SWLAW for your future goals.
Your future/job trajectory will mainly be derived by your ability to hustle and create.
Neither of these schools will be a driving determinant in the process, other than limitations.
However, Loyola likely does have the edge on prestige and hope.

Also, the bar pass rate for SWLAW PT night program is near 25%,
Fear that.

You will need a serious plan/tutor for the Bar.
DO NOT rely on Barbri as a PT student from SWLAW.
But, that is years away for you.... relax.

If you can go for free, guaranteed, then do it !

Also, if you just really want to be a lawyer: http://pculawschool.com
4 year night school, approx $5k a year.
Laugh all you want, but I know FOUR working and professional attorneys that went here.
All of them separate from the other, and do not even know each other.
I just stumble across them...
So it must work !

I would seriously look into Pacific Coast. I think your future plan to open your own shop, or hustle your way into another small shop, will not be changed by this school. But your debt and your life will be far better off....

Think seriously about this.
Get that JD, and PASS THE BAR.
The BAR is the great equalizer.
The school opens door to careers... better school = better doors.
But you can find your way, with very little debt, by looking at this school.

The State of California is unique in that it does not require applicants for the State Bar to attend law school at a state bar accredited or American Bar Association (ABA) approved school, or any school at all. In other words, any person could study for the California Bar Exam, and if they passed all components (including moral character evaluation), they would be licensed to practice as a lawyer in California. It seems in practice, however, few people follow this route.

WOW! I had no idea....maybe I'll this instead...ha, j/k...
