lol oh brother.
Just keep your education and your faith separate like everyone else. Go to the best school you can get into.

Re: Best Law Schools for Born-Again Christians
Regent University was founded by Pat Robertson, a well-known false prophet who is deeply involved in the Charismatic/Pentecostal movement (faith healing AKA "fake healing" as my pastor calls it, speaking in tongues, etc.) and has frequently compromised other Biblical doctrine as well. This, plus its fourth-tier ranking, does not make Regent very appealing to me.sublime wrote:That's right my bad.anyriotgirl wrote:Jesuits are Catholics you heathensublime wrote:Liberty or Regents come to mind. Believe it or not, there are law schools full of you people.
Maybe even Pepperdine (how do you feel about Jesuits?)
OP's problem is that all the more reputable schools that are closest to OP's ideology are catholic/jesuit or mormon. But there is always regents and liberty.
Pepperdine is affiliated with the Churches of Christ, which believes in the damnable heresy of baptismal regeneration. I could not attend Pepperdine any more than I could attend a Catholic or LDS school. Plus, Malibu is far from my ideal locale for many reasons...
Liberty is the best school of those mentioned by these standards, but it is also a fourth-tier law school. I am weary of attending any fourth-tier school due to the job outlook for their graduates.
Also, could you please define "you people" a little better? If you are referring to Independent Fundamental Baptists, then Liberty and Regent are not "full of" them. I would guess that most of their students are either Southern Baptist or Non-Denominational and go to churches that sing contemporary music and/or use modern "Bible versions" such as the NIV and NKJV.
I do intend to find a good IFB church within my area; if none is present within an hour's drive of the law school I will not attend that school.
Again, I am not trying to be a "flame" or be mean-spirited; but I am just telling it as it is.
Thanks for your suggestions!

All of which are outlined in the precious KJV.anyriotgirl wrote:sublime wrote:anyriotgirl wrote:sublime wrote:Fundies are a whole nother ballgame, and tend not to be so great at establishing reputable schools at all levels of education for obvious reasons.

Again, Baylor. Aren't southern Baptists kind of one and the same with born-agains? Like, the university didn't allow dancing until the 90s.

Re: Best Law Schools for Born-Again Christians
Among top law schools I would suggest UVA. I know a fair number (~15-20) of evangelical Christians who attend there. Harvard might also work, as there are generally a handful of evangelical Christians since the class sizes are so large.
If you are interested in concurrently studying theology, I would suggest Duke. The other divinity schools in the t14 (Harvard, Yale, Chicago) are all quite liberal. But even at Duke there will be few professors who share your beliefs. Harvard is near Gordon-Conwell (an evangelical seminary), but I'm not sure whether you can do a joint degree between the two.
Btw, Pepperdine is Protestant, not Catholic.

I don't think you're going to find any law school with a significant IFB presence, especially since it sounds like you're wisely avoiding extremely low-ranked schools.
Are there any schools in the T14 you'd consider attending? If not, you probably need to start by deciding where you want to live/practice after law school, since most schools below the T14 don't have much "reach".

OP, I know your undergrad school pretty well (based on your Twitter) and I really can't imagine your experience would be much different at most law schools, so if you were ok with that school I think you'll find people at most law schools that you'll be able to get along with and socialize with.

Re: Best Law Schools for Born-Again Christians
Thanks for your message! You wrote the politest one yet (not that I am picky about playing nice with everyone or anything...)!Ohiobumpkin wrote:If you are considering going into ministry, I would recommend a law school where you could pursue a J.D/M. Div. or Ph.D. in theology. M.Div. sounds like it is more up your alley if you plan to do ministry work. Yale and Harvard both have excellent J.D. and M.Div. programs. Duke and Notre Dame also have great law and M.Div. programs, but I don't know if you have reservations about attending Catholic schools given your evangelical protestant background. Either way, I would strongly recommend you choose a law school whose broader university also has a college that offers M.Div. or Ph.D. degrees in theology. Best of luck!
When I said that I wanted to use my J.D. for the ministry, I meant that I wanted to help Independent Fundamental Baptist churches and born-again Christians out with any legal matters they may be dealing with whether it be a lawsuit or just helping out writing by-laws or filling out incorporation documents. I hope to provide these services pro bono while making money with clients who have other legal issues (I would not do divorces or DUIs except in very unusual circumstances for obvious reasons but would take just about any other case within any practice area).
I do not feel that I have been called to preach. If I were called to preach, I would not attend any of the schools that you listed. Good IFB Bible Colleges do not seek accreditation from any agency (sadly many are starting to) and operate under the direction of local churches. Examples of fairly decent Bible colleges include West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, California, and Crown College in Knoxville. We do not call our preachers "Reverend" because only Jesus is worthy of that title.
Finally, just to politely let you know, I am not a Protestant. Protestant churches came out of the Catholic church (during the reformation in the 16th Century) and while they changed much of the doctrine they also kept much of the doctrine. IFB churches take their doctrine directly from the Lord's Inerrant Word with no man-made tradition mixed in. Sadly, this is something that even many Independent Baptists are ignorant of.
Thanks again for your suggestions!

Unsolicited suggestion of reading material: Christopher Hitchens.
Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

Bro you have like 7 posts and 6 of them are protesting something or other. That alone should make you Protestant. Besides, if 12 years of Catholic school taught me anything, it's that ALL ya'll other Christian religions are protestants, even if we can't keep your eleventy million different iterations straight.AlexdKJV wrote:
