I do not understand why UT isn’t ranked in the top 10. Texas big law and boutiques are booming and pay is often better than New York. Cost of living is much lower. Instead of a New York $2500 monthly cubbyhole apartment you can buy a four bedroom home in a gated community. UT with median grades, and you win.

Salary and buying power for prospective biglaw employment are not factored into rankings. Law school rankings are 40% reputation (what lawyers/judges/deans think of the school), 25% selectivity (LSAT/UGPA/acceptance rate), 20% employment rates (at graduation/9 months/bar passage rate), and 15% faculty resources (expenditures per student/library resources/student-faculty ratio).

UT's LSAT and GPA are a little below the rest of the T14. Also, given that UT places 35% of its students in large firms/federal clerkships, you do not always win with median grades from UT.
