LJL at the idea that Stephen Glass's problems are comparable to a college student forging a single document.

State bars absolutely have subpeona power. This is either a troll or an idiot. Every state bar FAQ and/or guide I've looked at online specifically states academic dishonesty as something they are powerfully interested in.
Just stop giving advice. "Talk to a bar lawyer" is the only reasonable thing you've said.

FutureSuperLawyer is taking a little time off to think about his sins. For those following along at home, giving legal advice about whether someone should or shouldn't have disclosed a C&F problem isn't kosher if you're not a lawyer.

I would think it's not kosher even if he is a lawyer unless he is interested in a malpractice suit.A. Nony Mouse wrote:FutureSuperLawyer is taking a little time off to think about his sins. However, considering the kid essentially asked for advice for a C&F problem, you should probably ban a lot of other people too - who admittedly gave better advice.

"Disclose, because the question tells you to disclose" is very different from "you're under no legal obligation to disclose because it was expunged."Jaeger wrote:I would think it's not kosher even if he is a lawyer unless he is interested in a malpractice suit.A. Obviously, erring on the side of caution puts you on a better footing, but legal advice is legal advice, no? Of course, one can claim this is all just opinions, but isn't that what Future was giving - just an opinion? He even advocated seeking counsel.
Ultimately, I don't really care if the logic behind the ban is consistent. I'm just bored and playing devil's advocate.
