Hah well then great minds think alikeiMisto wrote:Guuuurl, that's the kitchen sink I was talking about.ph5354a wrote:Even if you already did this on your application, you could also talk about what specific programs, courses, professors, etc. you're interested in taking at Cornell. It wouldn't take that much research and would show them that you know exactly what you want to do, and that you're interested enough to put the time in to do the research. If it's not possible to do a campus tour before you submit your LOCI, you could also mention that you're planning on visiting campus in January or something and look forward to sitting in on some classes. Just some thoughts. Good luck!iMisto wrote:167/3.7
I'm having trouble coming up with content for my LOCI - basically threw the kitchen sink at them in my application. I did find much better employment while waiting for a decision, though I'm not sure what I'd say about it. Also, I considered talking about my move to CT from AZ (knew absolutely nobody up here), but I'm afraid it'd start resembling more of a PS than a LOCI.
Here's what I have on a post-it: "Please, let me in. I promise to attend at sticker." Of course, it's surrounded by little <3s.

Can we please keep this thread active - I need Cornell Adcoms to come in and be like, "Dyyamn, she really wants to attend." and then let me in.

Re: Deferred at Cornell (2012 EA Applicants)
so i sent in a really short LOCI saying that id still like to be considered and that I'd also possibly be interested in visiting/interviewing early next year.
Got a confirmation email back saying i could set up a visit but that interviews only happen if admissions decides they want to interview you. Not exactly the response i was hoping for but whatever.
So did we reach a consensus that Cornell might actually care if you took the trouble to walk around Ithaca for a day with possible bonus points for doing it in the middle of the winter?

I emailed them to let them know how much I loved Ithaca when i visited. Didn't seem to make much of an impression :/feralinfant wrote:so i sent in a really short LOCI saying that id still like to be considered and that I'd also possibly be interested in visiting/interviewing early next year.

Bros, check out LSN. The people who have been accepted so far will not be attending Cornell. They will be taking their talents to NYC, or Chicago, or Cambridge. They need to have someone to fill a class and all of your numbers are competitive. You all got this you just have to be patient. Good luck!

That's what makes me really nervous. I didn't write a Why Cornell, and didn't put a ton of effort into my application, so hopefully it's YP and not something glaringly awful in my applicationJohn_rizzy_rawls wrote:Your deferrance makes little to no sense. That's what I'd imagine it to be. They figure that if you still want to hear back by February, you're not just applying there for the hell of it?moonman157 wrote:That's what makes me really nervous. Wish I was in that position. at a 3.73/164, I'm the lowest I've heard deferred yet. Not that I mind being deferred instead of denied. I love having the chance at going to Cornell.
EDIT: Also, LOCI submitted last night and received today. Officially in the regular applicant pool.

That's ok! If they're not your first choice.. I'd recommend getting ice cream instead of sending in your LOCI.geary86 wrote:I'm still working on mine...iMisto wrote:Finally sent in my LOCI!

Take a deep breath. Now, go write down what you'd actually say if the adcoms were interviewing you.
What is it that you REALLY like about Cornell? Why?
You got this.

Re: Deferred at Cornell (2012 EA Applicants)
I'll be sending my LOCI in on Monday. Hope for Penn ED has plummeted since last year most ED acceptances were sent out the first day. Makes me even more disappointed about being in the Cornell deferment zone.
I see long waitlists(if I'm lucky) in my future.

YP deferral? I have delusionally convinced myself of the same despite the fact that my GPA is low.John_rizzy_rawls wrote:Your deferrance makes little to no sense. Rough.moonman157 wrote:3.64/174 (LSN is m00nman157)
