A first impression is a lasting one. Admitted student day is as much about making an impression as it is about getting oriented to the school. Why not dress nicely for that day? What would it hurt? The people you want to remember you (professors and admins) will do so, and the other students won't hold it against you. An outfit that leans towards the professional side (but without being "stuffy"), says you are serious and professional about your work. It says that you care about what others think of you. That means a lot when it cxomes to being recommended for internships, research assistanceships, fellowships, clinics, etc. This isn't undergrad. You are a hair from working in the professional world, and you need to ACT-AS-IF...

On a daily basis, nice but casual with a hint of professional should be good. I would recommend dressing in khakis, slacks or nice jeans with nice blouses and sweaters, loafers or ballet slip-ons...boots during the winter, etc. Leggings and skirts are cool. Spice your outfits up with leather or suede jackets (if you're in the north). If you want to wear jeans and a t-shirt, that's ok too. Just use common sense. If you are in the south you have less freedom.

As somewhat ridiculous as this post seems, I'm glad someone did it because I've been wondering the same thing... Do girls come to class in sweats when you're in law school? I do it pretty much everyday in undergrad... the idea of putting on real clothes everyday to go to class kind of sucks.

Why does it matter what everyone else does? Do what you want.
