Can you not get good grades on a major that interests you?
You don't necessary have to go out of your way to place yourself in classes that are "easy" but not worth your while; just choose your professors wisely and study more if you struggle.

Re: Easy 4.0 vs Upper Division Classes???
No class is easy, but many lower division classes offer so much extra credit opportunities if you take advantage of them you can get a 4.0 and so my dilemma was guaranteed 4.0 in an easy class vs. harder upper division class in my major.
For my information I am getting a BA in Economics at the University of Washington.
My current uGPA is 3.55 and I know I can boost it up with some of the easier "fluff" class vs. harder classes.
The harder classes would not be more practical in life or anything, just a higher division class with a lower GPA vs a lower division class with a higher GPA.
But from my consensus it is definitely worth the lower division classes where I know I can do well.

If you want to be a better/smarter OVERALL person, then you should choose a major that excites you (if you can find one) and just do the best you can, regardless of grades. If you have the grades for a good LS, then go down that road. On the other hand, if the only reason you are doing UG is to get to LS, then be a communications major and take "intro to dance" for your elective.

Re: Easy 4.0 vs Upper Division Classes???
Liberal arts majors tend to be easier - I did poli sci and econ and the econ hurt my GPA far more than the poli sci. But, I also LOVED poli sci. I think you tend to like things you're better at anyway - if you do physics and get destroyed by the classes, you're not likely to *love* physics. So try to combine something you enjoy and are also good at. And within a major, you can choose the easiest classes too. Once you take a class w/ one professor and do well, try to take more classes w/ the same prof - good for recommendations, and you also know what you're getting into & what the difficulty of the class will be.

Economics is also considered a liberal arts major, FYIfreestallion wrote:Liberal arts majors tend to be easier - I did poli sci and econ and the econ hurt my GPA far more than the poli sci.

Depends on the school. At my school we offer a liberal arts degree in econ and business degree in econFantasticMrFox wrote:Economics is also considered a liberal arts major, FYIfreestallion wrote:Liberal arts majors tend to be easier - I did poli sci and econ and the econ hurt my GPA far more than the poli sci.
