GMU places reasonably well into DC/NOVA government/public interest/small firms. You can all but forget about biglaw.

Newark really isn't that bad especially the area where Rutgers Law is. I've been to Camden once and it scares the shit out of me. Irvington too. But Newark not so much, at least not by RU. Over by Seton Hall at 3am is a diff story.

The Newark campus is quite safe.

Is it possible to ask G.Mason to consider me for the full-time program instead of part-time? I can tell them that I have made a mistake on the application and checked the wrong box (can't think of any other excuse). The application deadline for ED is tomorrow but I have already submitted my application.

I'd just call and ask them to switch the box if the deadline hasn't passed yet.

Damn, I am still debating over G.Mason part-time and Camden. I know the cost of living in Arlington is almost twice that in Camden or Newark. The question is now is it worth choosing Mason-part over Camden - full!

I think that would be the only way to go if I need that to happen!sundance95 wrote:I'd just call and ask them to switch the box if the deadline hasn't passed yet.

Your choices are pretty well-defined; you just have to decide what you want now.binarycode wrote:Damn, I am still debating over G.Mason part-time and Camden. True. It's the $30K difference that's bothering me.sundance95 wrote:Your choices are pretty well-defined; you just have to decide what you want now.binarycode wrote:Damn, I am still debating over G.Mason part-time and Camden. Go with the money unless you want DC.

I think I was fooled by the statistic of the employment prospects for Mason graduates when I ED'd there. I am not die-hard DC fan to be honest. So I'll have to try my chance tomorrow, hopefully they will make the changes. So, in terms of median numbers you think that the salary difference (between the two schools) would not cover the difference between the costs, right?sundance95 wrote:Go with the money unless you want DC.

To be perfectly honest, there's a very real possibility that you won't employed in a legal position after graduating from either of these schools. I would be all about reducing debt exposure if you are determined to attend one of these schools, not trying to speculate on future salary between the schools. Especially since you aren't sold on DC. Even people who are sold on DC can get sick of it.binarycode wrote:I think I was fooled by the statistic of the employment prospects for Mason graduates when I ED'd there. I hope that schools can make changes (with your request) to your application. I really need to change that "part-time" to "full-time". Anybody knows whether they will do that?

I have friends who go to Rutgers Newark, and I have even visited plenty of times -- the Seton Hall campus is virtually right next to it, as is NJIT (which is of zero value because it consists predominately of male nerds). There is one street literally dedicated to the school, but the streets surrounding University Ave And MLK Ave are very shady. I wouldn't be too worried on the "campus" because they have cops patrolling the streets 24/7. That is, unless you're a total moron.

That's pretty much how you would describe all of Jersey. And Philadelphia for that matter.URMdan wrote:The best way I like to describe Newark is a bootleg NYC.

Just so you know, Camden basically owns Jersey gov't positions. I think people are underrating this when they say "any semblance of paying off your debt"...unless you are functionally retarded with money, you can pay off 80k or so of debt (probably less) with a 40-50k NJ state job
