Had my interview recently. We talked through typical questions: why I want to go to law school, why Georgetown, what will I bring to Georgetown, what do I want to study there, what extracurriculars am I interested in, what professors am I interested in studying with. It was more detailed and intense than my Northwestern interview by a fair amount, actually, but certainly nothing like what Montauk wants you to prepare for (no one asked me to defend Roe v. Wade or discuss the constitutionality of the health care mandate or anything).

Definitely prepare a lot of questions, though. I got a lot of my questions about Georgetown and law school answered.

I interviewed on 11/1 and still haven't heard anything. My status was updated to 11/4 and I check the mail everyday waiting for something and still nothing. How long does it usually take to hear back after the interview?

Had mine today. Pretty casual and friendly. I'm just glad I got to speak face to face with someone. We'll see what shakes out. Good luck to everyone else still waiting to interview.

My interview is Wednesday. I think the person is a recent graduate (like May). I got the notice about the same time as everyone else. Good luck everyone!

IRONY!!!!

At the moment that I was typing the above post I was sitting at a Starbucks in DC and what has happening next to me.....An alum interview for Georgetown!!!! I only got the tail end of the conversation but sitting next to her were two 1L's from American University. They said she did well. The girl came off as confident and knowledgeable but she talked about another school that she was applying to (Vanderbilt) which I think was a bad move.

The interview has hella casual! The alum had on a running outfit and the prospective had on a boots and a cute dress. Holy Crap!!!

No joke...there is a Cornell Interview going on right next to me!!!! It's undergrad though.

What does the cutoff seem to be for interviews? I'm 175, 3.4x. Should I be waiting anxiously for an email? Or just refreshing the status checker like everyone else?

I don't believe that there is a definitive cutoff - I received an interview invitation today and my numbers are not nearly as strong as yours.

My understanding is that it's less of a cutoff and more of a band-pass. If both your numbers are borderline, or if you're some kind of splitter, that triggers an interview. I wouldn't expect a 175/3.4 to be in that category, despite the sub-median GPA. But I wouldn't trust me if I were you.

It has to mesh with the alum's schedule. With the holidays and all I do not find this surprising in the least.

Sounds good to me. Just wait, now that I post this, I'll receive an interview email tomorrow. Wouldn't mind though--love interviews. Good luck to all!

I'm a reverse-splitter who got an interview invite. I have a 3.85 GPA and 162 LSAT, but I graduated from Georgetown undergrad. I'm glad they gave me a break with the LSAT, as I did well there as a student despite a bad SAT score. But I shouldn't count my chickens before the eggs hatch.

And it just got shoved back another week. More time to prepare, I guess.

Reactivating this thread because I just got the interview email today. I'm a little bummed to see people on this thread say its only for borderline candidates because I thought my numbers were better than borderline....and the way they phrase the email makes it sound as though its a very positive thing to get asked to interview. Maybe its for all likely candidates who aren't outstandingly obviously admits??? Maybe??? (wishful thinking??) I mean, plenty of people get rejected with no interview, correct?

Anyone else in the same boat?

To be honest, I'm not sure, but if you have above median numbers and rock the interview I'm sure you'll be fine.

I'm slightly below the lsat median (169 for me, poo), but above their gpa median (3.8). So I'm a "borderline".

What I'm worried about is that it's getting late. It could be late february by the time the alumnus contacts me. Then it could be another few weeks before Georgetown looks at my application again. So, basically, it could be mid march before my file gets reviewed and there goes the cycle...
