I'm not convinced early helps, but it's clear late hurts.

Though never send out an app with a lower lsat score, or sloppy material to get in early. That is stupid.

Perhaps the rest of his app wasn't that great, or maybe it was the result of yield protection, but I would've thought his stats made him safe at a lot of places he got waitlisted/rejected at. If you look at LSN, often the yellow/red dots in "surprising" places (all-green areas, or just on the border) are the apps which were NOT handed in early.

I'd think before Thanksgiving = early, January/February = late, anytime in between = "normal"?

At one school that I got waitlisted at, I got a chance to talk to an adcom during the summer. There was a quote that, paraphrased, went something like "Wow, if you applied earlier --> admit+$"

There's my anecdote, I say it matters plenty.

What school? you have pretty similar numbers to me, so i'm pretty curious.
