Greed is good. Greed works.

Go for it. Don't let these guys sway you against doing what you want to do.

So you lose $100k, so what, it's only money.

Like I said, you have a 66% chance of succeeding.

People who call it "forex" don't understand it. Esp b/c derivatives [edit: + high caps] are how one actually makes money in it. To quote my fx friends that trade currency derivatives at big banks: "indie idiots that call it forex don't know shit. we laugh at their margins." Don't hate. I didn't say it.

"LOL"...I'll be generous and say you have 300K to trade. Unless you're in super-risky unstable shit, how do you make money on this?

I think you're confusing derivatives with foreign exchange. There are derivatives that trade as foreign exchange, such as CFD's. Are you referring to CFD's or actual currency? I've heard several economists say the word forex. It's doesn't follow that just because you say forex you don't know what you're talking about.

Dude...it's extremely possible I'm confused. I'm a fucking liberal arts major, so all I know is what my econ-major friends on fixed income desks, who make way more than I probably ever will, tell me. They tell me that trading fx w/ the kind of capital individual investors have is a non-starter, unless you're in super risky shit, b/c you lack the ability to hedge and the margins are too low.

If you do it well, more power to you. Everything I have invested is done by other people, so I'll shut up.

That's a difficult question to answer in a short amount of space, but I will tell you that out of all other instruments that can be traded, forex is probably the least risky. That is assuming you are not an idiot trading on news. No one can help those people.

The market value is gamed by the brokers, but it cannot be gamed too much. In a critical news point, brokers take full advantage and steal money because that is the easiest point at which to game the system.

If you place a trade in the morning and hold it all day, you are not paying interest on the amount borrowed, which at retail is usually 99%. You can gauge the difference in the broker's price with real time data from e signal or bloomberg. If you're broker is off the mark most of the time, then you need a new broker.

So, in that sense, yeah, retail is for suckers.

Stupid shit, why are you even posting this here? Day trading
man is like roulette. We're all here for law school no matter how weird some of these posts make you feel. The economy is shit, but the comparison you make is just retarded.

Did you even read the OP? He wants to day trade. The comparison is not retarded. He should do what he wants to do. Why should he fill a spot he doesn't want at law school? Let someone else who actually wants to be there take the spot.

Dude to me the phrase "f*ck school" is offensive in any context. I feel like the reason why many of us are struggling to get into schools we normally would are because many people are applying who normally wouldn't give a fuck about the profession if it weren't for this economy. So if you want to day trade, do it but spare those who care for the field a headache and a half.

I am in complete agreement with you, the sooner he starts day trading and stops posting on TLS the better for everyone.

Cheers to you in that case if that's the purpose behind your motives! To better re-phrase myself, which I am sure you understood, I meant "f*CK Law school" in that last post.

The thing is, TopBloke, if I don't gain admission to at least a T14, I probably won't go to law school. I think this is probably the best option for me, provided that I'm an foreigner who actually has a job that pays twice the per capita income in his home country. I have a significant amount of money saved up (since I already have a house and a functional car), and am trying my best to weigh in my options about the future. Despite the fact that a lot of prospective law school applicants are passionate about learning the law, it's essential that we weigh in our risks, because adults pay BILLS.

If I can't even get a job that pays me 50K after graduation, then I'm completely screwed. Although I would have zero debt after law school, I still would have wasted three years and have carved into my hard-earned savings.

What I'm doing is something everyone should technically do.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
