OP, I think you should apply with your numbers, then, if you get in, write, direct, and star in a movie with a Rudy-esque theme. That could give you a great soft, that you can then use to transfer to a higher-ranked school, come and post a similar question about that's school's application, have your dreams mocked again, and then turn into another movie. (then repeat)

To answer your question -- definitely write the essay. Chances are, it can't hurt you, and perhaps make up for your less-than stellar credentials.

By the way, is there anything worse than trying to quickly make a small edit to a post, only to find that someone has posted immediately after you so now it says that your post has been "edited 1 time in total?"
