It's a fact of law school admissions. Deal with it and stop trying to get around it.

And I doubt you make it in to CU. They tend to favor in-state pretty heavily. I was WL'ed with better numbers than yours.
what kind of numbers? i got in OOS with 3.8/162

Her GPA and a 164. They are a GPA-whore school.

No, but it's a pretty good indicator that someone with lower numbers won't get in. LSN doesn't give you much hope, either.

Also, what does that have to do with anything? It doesn't matter what that says...they have to report the cumulative to LSAC, so that's what they look at and decide by.

Why are you spending all this time grasping at straws and essentially throwing darts at random places? Just retake the goddamn test.

The index shows exactly how they decide on how to respond to applications... so I don't know how it WOULDN'T be relevant? and noooooooot likely. LSN has a few admits at 3.4/163...

The only reason you think you want to practice on Colorado is because you think UC will look at your degree GPA. That's a terrible reason, Darbs.

It's hard to tell what difference ED would make because we only have had it for one year. One thing to remember about high rent is that you only have what is covered in COL, if you are just using loans, like most of us. Unfortunately, the Regents of the university set the COL based on a state average. That kinda sucks because Boulder is way above the state average, which has been pointed out already. So the money you get doesn't go that far. It was roughly about $6,400 per semester last year, and it will go up some this year. But so does rent in this town.

Boulder is a great place to be. I don't care for cities much, so I think Denver is a nice place to be. I don't plan on living there after school, but I would if that meant it was the only place to find a job. I live right up against the mountains, so I can be up there quickly. If you're looking for a life like you'll find on the coasts, it's not that. But enough people enjoy it.

And you won't have to live in Colorado exclusively with a CU Law degree. The reach stretches up and down the Rockies with ease, if you would like to live in Jackson, Bozeman, Santa Fe or Billings. I know that doesn't appeal to a lot of people, though, which means less competition for those of us would like that.

not true... I didn't really consider it because I concluded I had no shot, until seeing that, then I looked up a bunch of info ab the school and spoke with some friends and so on and so forth that got me MORE interested than before. Just trying to figure out possible options, no harm done!

There is no school that uses degree GPA. Period. If they did, don't you think it would be all over the forum? People would have figured it out long ago.

All the time you spend posting here, looking for ways around the obvious facts? That's all time you could be spending figuring out how to squeeze a couple more points out of the LSAT. I thought you had a horribly busy schedule and couldn't possibly make time to study for the October test?

There was some discussion about this on the Colorado 2010 thread this cycle. I don't think it was ever decided for certain whether they use Degree GPA or Cumulative GPA. But their index last year did claim to use Degree, which is what prompted the discussion then, I think. Obviously that might not be true (because, as people pointed out, it's cumulative that their rankings are based on, so it's in their interest to go by that). But, I think it could still be worth a $60 application fee for OP to give it a shot (if she thinks she might be interested in living in Colorado, at least for a few years, of course). There were some people with low GPAs who got in this last cycle.

are you implying that a CU Boulder JD has national mobility?

No, that's not what I was implying. I said "at least for a few years". But I do think it could offer a greater chance of national mobility than some of the other schools she's expressed interest in. And, if it doesn't, I thought I remembered her mentioning Denver as a city where she'd be interested in living (and the University of Denver as a school where she wanted to apply). So, I was only saying that I didn't think it would hurt for her to put in an application to CU, as well.

Simply a JD from CU isn't like Harvard, no. But a JD from CU and a solid, proven early career does. But that goes for a lot of schools.

I just did my tour of UF :) :) Not the best facilities but not the worst and really nice/helpful people! Stetson's law campus still blows this out of the water. Shouldn't have visited there first, it is hard to compare. Thats what 33K a year gets ya!

Like, Football?? I could care less. I'm a rugby girl.

I care a lot about facilities! I'm completely uncomfortable in places that are run-down, unkept, whatever...
