Re: UCONN
What is the point in paying the huuuge COL in NYC just to drive to CT everyday? I know CT is not a lot cheaper but still.

Re: UCONN
I am instate in CT, and I am seriously looking at UCONN for this cycle. I was looking at the average salaries in CT, and they look promising. Anyone know how accurate they are, and what kind of jobs grads secure in CT? I wonder how realistic it is to make 80-100k a year after graduation in CT.
Also, with a 3.93 what LSAT do you guys think is need for PT and FT? Any chance with a sub 160?

Re: UCONN
hey Jaydizzle, I can give you figures I have found
(kalvano will give personal opinion, but I have a feeling a lot of them were formed after not getting into the type of school she wanted)
average salaries in CT in private firm are just below Boston - 120,00 - of course these are from the law school.
if you are looking for 80,000 to 100,000 after grad school, you are definitely all set
you have a chance with a 157, 158 with that GPA

Let's see. You ask about job prospects in NYC and Boston. You are informed that it would be very difficult to crack those markets. You argue a bit and are again informed the chances are not good.
You then state you will live in NYC and do a "reverse commute". The wisdom of that is questioned.
You then pull a complete 180 and say you would live / work in CT after law school and that you would live in CT during law school, thus completely negating what you said a few posts before.
Then you insulted me and told me I was unable to read, and told me I offered nothing until recently, when I was the first one to respond to the ridiculously bumped thread.
That about cover it?

With that kind of GPA, why aren't you shooting for higher? That's an insanely awesome GPA.
I didn't get good impressions about the job prospects in CT (but I think that might have had more to do with the student I was talking to). Everyone else was at least marginally optimistic about them who was familiar with UConn.
As far as salaries go, those numbers should be taken with a huge grain of salt.

Re: UCONN
What Kalvano said. Uconn is strong in Connecticut, but New York and Boston are very difficult markets to crack, even in better economic times. What would make of working in Ct.?
this is the quote to which I responded:
I would probably do the reverse commute
now you want to be a lawyer, so really think hard about this one
in regards to offering me nothing - you suggested Cardozo would give me better prospects, or even BL (remaining in NYC)... I then actually research and what I find suggests just the opposite - responding first doesn't imply you provide anything of worth to a conversation

Kalvano - when people ask for opinions on this thread they are looking for a little bit more than just personal opinion - especially when the opinion seems a bit misguided
I asked about Uconn in general, to which you replied this nonsense and then went off on me about commuting - which was based on your inability to read properly

Yeah, I am working this summer on it. I took Blueprint, and now I am doing Atlas self study. I had a 143 diagnostic! Ouch! One of my biggest problems is my slow test taking nature. Even if I raise my score, I am worried that I will have problems with exams down the road in law school.

Games aren't bad for me, it's just timing. I had a nice -10 in games.
RC is a flip flop. I can have -2 or -11 lol LR is where I make most of my mistakes. I looked through the powerscore books. Blueprint and Atlas have the same stuff if not better. I want something above 160 so bad. Although even with a 160, I would probably only be looking at UCONN. If I just got a 163 or 165, I would have a lot of nice options.

You'd be surprised what that 3.93 might open up. A splitter of sorts. You'd be way above median at most every school, so that would be helpful.
