Napolitano's only three years older than her. I don't think the age difference is big enough to give Kagan an edge, there are other "younger" names being considered.

Maybe President Obama will appoint himself.

I had proposed he would appoint his wife, to some classmates. Some liked it.

Interesting blog about some "out of the box" nominees for SCOTUS. I like Whitehouse.

Question: why were Pam Karlan and Kathleen Sullivan discussed so seriously to replace Souter but not at all in the mix to replace Stevens?

Truth be told, I'm actually sort of happy about this. I wanted one of them to replace Souter because it would have given Stanford another justice after losing two in two years (Rehnquist and O'Connor), but now since I'm actually going to SLS, I'm glad they'll be staying put.

Heh, a friend of mine at GW sent that article to me. Said Turley would be a joke of a nominee. I know nothing about him other than that.

I don't think this is at all realistic, but if I had my way, he'd nominate Richard Posner. He's too old, and ideologically unpredictable. But he's the smartest judge in the country.

Sticking to what's realistic, I think Kagan is the most likely choice. Obama will get some heat from the left for the choice but it'll take some wind out of Republican opposition in the Senate.
