Too good of grammar a bad thing? Forum

Since I am taking a graduate level class in grammar at the moment I can quote you the following from, "Grammar for Grammarians" by Frank Parker and Kathryn Riley:

"This rule apparently is based on the fact that in Latin (as in all Romance languages), prepositions always precede a noun phrase and thus never appear in sentance-final position.

The Chicago Manual of the Style says:

"The traditional caveat of yesteryear against ending sentences with prepositions is, for most writers, an unnecessary and pedantic restriction... The ‘rule' prohibiting terminal prepositions was an ill-founded superstition.”

Bottom-line: write however the hell you like.

OK folks, how about starting a sentence with "But" or "Yet". I was not an English major, never learned that this was considered grammatically incorrect by some folks, and so about three sentences in my PS started with "But". Too late to fix now.

My PS is somewhat informal, as I'm sure most are. But is this something I should be worried about?
