I doubt "all the time". Maybe once every few years a 175/2.1 comes along who puts no effort into their application, or (as has been attested on here at one point), some psychopath with a 175/3.8 has LOR-writers who inform the admissions office that the person is dangerous, and they get rejected. Or a 180/4.0 applies but is on trial for attempted murder or something. "All the time" is just PR-speak.

I'm incredulous because I was under the impression that only 99.6 percent of test takers score 175 or above, which would be about 500 people a year. Is my math wrong? Or are there a lot of people like me with 174-175 scores and 3.00 gpa's?

Yes. All the time. Im sure there are plenty of 175+ that come off as a douche/have multiple felonies/write a terrible ps/lousy LORs/terrible gpa etc etc also factor in a 176 will most likely not attend OSU unless they have some damn compelling reason for staying in Ohio...

Ok but my question is how many are there in the first place. You can't reject people all the time if there are only 500 people out there which would mean lets say 30 in the entire state of Ohio, how are they rejecting people all the time with that score.

Even if 50 people produced a 175 a year, it doesn't guarantee that they'd excel through law school and it certainly doesn't ensure they have the potential to become a great lawyer.

The LSAT isn't an intelligence test... or ethics test, or illustration of what drives a person, etc, etc, etc. In short, I don't think it should be surprising (in fact, I HOPE there's more of this) that schools aren't basing the decision to admit a person on a single, potentially superficial, criteria such as the LSAT.

There are some. I applied to Indiana, and Iowa, OSU's peer schools looking for possible scholarships with my 176 and my TTT GPA. The is a small, yet significant group of mega splitters out there.
