I only paid for 3 apps, the rest were waived and I still spent over $400.

Sounds good. I definitely applied fairly late (when December scores were released) so I have a feeling there's a long wait ahead of me.

~900 here for 16 schools. Funny enough, the fee waivers were indicative of what I considered "target" and "reach targets." Then I applied to a few I deem "superman reaches" just to have them definitively reject me.

I figured what the hey, it's a one time process in my life.

When you whiff the September LSAT and only get fee waivers from 3 or 4 T1 law schools, you can easily end up spending a grand. I had no plans to wait until my December LSAT won me some fee waivers so I could apply mid-January!

Getting apps in before January is worth the $80/each. Lesson: nail the June or Sept LSAT and cash in those fee waivers.

Depends on the country, landline/cell, etc. I thought it wouldn't be a problem to have my mom call my french cell since I've spend about $4 over the past three months calling US cell phones. Turns out skype->french cell phones is .15/minute or something. Not too bad if it's a quick phone call, but it can add up pretty quickly.

I did surprisingly well on my LSAT, which saved me bags of dough (which I summarily threw at my girlfriend for Christmas, since it was 'extra money' in my immature littl e head). I only ended up paying for Harvard, Columbia and Chicago. Everybody else gave me waivers.

This also kept me from even applying to Northwestern. They were one of my top choices from the beginning, but between no waiver (could be hidden, but not worth finding out) and having to miss a day of work to go to their lame-ass interview, the cost wasn't worth it. Funny how you find out that you really don't care to attend a school the minute any real sacrifice comes up.
