Eh, I didn't get a FW from GULC or Cornell but did get one from Penn and CLS. I'm not putting too much thought into it other than all the things I can buy instead of spending $1000 on apps.softey wrote:Getting a fee waiver indicates nothing really about admission chances.
Does NOT getting a fee waiver indicate less of a chance?

GULC must be YP-ing you or something. I got theirs with 172/3.6. Has anyone gotten Cornell yet?Helmholtz wrote:Eh, I didn't get a FW from GULC or Cornell but did get one from Penn and CLS. Don't bother with Columbia. You'll get the "Don't call us, we'll call you" response.j nyc wrote:happy to see the nyu waiver. got that + chicago + georgetown... i am glad that applying to schools is not going to be outrageously expensive.
still lacking columbia and penn -- i think i will try to solicit waivers from them later this week?
another question (just musing) -- has anyone from the new york area received a waiver from columbia with a 175 or above?
FWIW 3.98/175 from NYC and no CLS waiver. Thanks a lot for supporting people in your area, Columbia.

God damn, I should have worked harder in UG. There's no way you get rejected from Stanford with those numbers.GeePee wrote:Don't bother with Columbia. Also Michigan hopefuls -- some of the waivers are hidden. I e-mailed them, they declined, and I found out I had a hidden one anyhow.

my conclusion is that there isn't a ton of rhyme or reason to exactly who gets which waivers. it gets scattered around a bit and for whatever reason i don't think there are clean cutoffs.
GPA 3.7x
LSAT 177+
got CLS, NYU, penn (and others)
no chicago

Just noticed I had a hidden Michigan fee waiver to go along with email/snailmail waivers from UVA, UCLA, and Penn.
Still no CLS, Chicago, or NYU. Grrr.
Edit: Stats= sub 3.5 GPA, 176 LSAT.

Yes. It wasn't open a few weeks ago, but I opened it up (upon your recommendation, right?) and have since received a bunch of stuff from schools I'm not interested in.

For what it's worth, Colorado via email (upon request).
I emailed Kansas and asked for one...they want a 250-word statement-why Kansas?
Then I asked myself...why Kansas?
I don't know...

I was able to get BU by request. Sent them an email yesterday afternoon. Received the response around 11:30 last night.
No luck with GW. They only do need-based.

Nothing too ground breaking since many people have got them but I got hidden waivers from Boston U, Indiana-Bloom, and Connecticut today.
only one app I have to pay for and that is Wisconsin.

This happened to me when I was filling out the Texas Tech application (safety). they wanted me to write an additional essay about why i wanted to go there to practice law etc etc. The delete button was pushed shortly after I read that paragraph.adora wrote:For what it's worth, Colorado via email (upon request).

Re: 2009-2010 Fee Waiver Tracker/FAQ Thread
Indeed. This got me thinking. Maybe the only (main?) reason schools require or suggest writing "why x?" essays is to deter people from applying who won't end up enrolling if admitted--think of it as a kind of yield protection. Perhaps, then, the thing to do is just call them on their bluff. I am in the mood to think wishfully today, but I wouldn't be all that surprised if this were the case.Bustang wrote:This happened to me when I was filling out the Texas Tech application (safety). they wanted me to write an additional essay about why i wanted to go there to practice law etc etc. The delete button was pushed shortly after I read that paragraph.adora wrote:For what it's worth, Colorado via email (upon request).

The randomness is amusing/depressing. I got CLS and VA, but no Chicago. Hoping for a Nwestern and for geographic reasons Ohio State. Both said they'd be doing CRS this week/soon. 175/3.02 + a couple post-grad degrees.johnstuartmill wrote:I'm starting to get bitter. 175/3.47 and no fee waivers from the T14.

For those who e-mailed schools asking for fee waivers, you listed your GPA and LSAT score, right? (I know this seems like a dumb question but just in case...)
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
