That's awesome. You should have some solid job prospects coming out of school with that background. We are impatiently waiting for our Joint Commission survey here at the hospital I work for. We could use someone with the background you and I will have.legal10101 wrote:YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A POST I CAN RELATE TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: OLD SCHOOL (must be 30 and over ITT)
We are too, Joint Commission that is. I do have very good prospects. Actually, several large Chicago firms I work with on a daily basis. Most of my contacts have sent LOR, or have called the law schools I appied to. Howerver, my stats are not good (2.71 LSAC; 3.7 Undergrad, and 150 LSAT) I don't know why I am struggling with the LSAT, but I have. Nerves....alot riding on doing well. I am closing on my house, moving into my parents home (they have a property with a 2nd living quarter), and quitting a very good job.

That is a huge bummer. The insurance was one of the best parts of working/studying at NU.homestyle28 wrote:It's not. LS students get the student insurance, which is fine for the student but sucks for their families.masochist wrote:If the NU law healthcare plan is the same plan they offer employees, then it is actually pretty awesome. It basically covers all of the NMH affiliated practices with a $20/$30 deductible. I knew of one woman who stayed in a Ph.D. program an extra year just so that she could have her prenatal care and delivery at Prentice. Re: OLD SCHOOL (must be 30 and over ITT)
I was looking at the NU student health plan last night, comparing it to the HMO coverage I get now through work, and it's...ok. But then, pretty much everything is only ok compared to my Kaiser for $25/month, which covers everything without that you-pay-20% bullshit. Plus I hate PPOs and trying to find a doctor who's taking on patients and having to go different places for different things. I like being able to call one phone number for absolutely everything. Giving up my insurance is one of the things that really scares me about quitting my job.masochist wrote:If the NU law healthcare plan is the same plan they offer employees, then it is actually pretty awesome. If NU grants me my deferral, I'm definitely spending the next 18 months getting new glasses, new contacts, getting my teeth checked, etc.

Would you believe I moved to Illinois from Central Phoenix?

Yes. The majority of the people I work with are originally from the midwest, and they all seem to come here straight out of college, then head back to the cold either when they have kids or when their parents start getting old.ArghItsBlarg wrote:Would you believe I moved to Illinois from Central Phoenix?

Not a terrible idea, except its a really small house that is 60+ yrs old...Not a ton of copper in there. Actually, I love the neighborhood, and rent in my area is surprisingly high, so I think we will rent it out, and hopefully move back here eventually.I say secure your 1l loans, pull all the copper out of the walls and run!

No, you may not. You may sit quietly in the corner and learn from your elders but you will not speak unless spoken to.Adjudicator wrote:Hey old guys... can I post in this thread if I'm going to be 30 when I graduate from law school?

I actually would have said yes if it wasn't for the "hey old guys" part....I was just telling someone this morning that I think I'm getting old....I didn't go to bed until 10 last night and it was killing me this morning (I know, this will not be a good thing when I get to school), but I don't need reminding of my age at this point.homestyle28 wrote:And get off my lawn!!!!!nygrrrl wrote:No, you may not. I'm not going into law intending to make crazy money, but I think maybe I should have stayed in teaching for the insurance. My god it covered everything.

Congrats. I've heard a lot of good stuff about NU's placement, even ITE. It's one of the few schools worth taking on a lot of debt for.ArghItsBlarg wrote:Well that dilemma just got a lot less theoretical. I just got accepted at NU.
