Apparently GW's class is 484 (up 86 from last year). No word on medians.

All a prediction obviously, but last year was 167. Minus one point for this cycle, minus another for the class size increase. 165 is my prediction.longlivetheking wrote:Paul Campos wrote:Apparently GW's class is 484 (up 86 from last year). No word on medians.
Oh, and the 3.6 decreases to 3.52.

honestly an increase of 86 is absolutely bullshit in this cycle. is it because they over-enrolled by over-admitting to hedge against medians?wtrcoins3 wrote:All a prediction obviously, but last year was 167. Maybe they did some weird strategy of admitting people with lower numbers to get the $$$ that they then could use to throw at people with higher numbers? lollonglivetheking wrote:honestly an increase of 86 is absolutely bullshit in this cycle. is it because they over-enrolled by over-admitting to hedge against medians?wtrcoins3 wrote:All a prediction obviously, but last year was 167. On LSN, it looks like last cycle, 168 was the auto-accept score. This cycle, it was 167 and they were pretty generous to 166 and 165 applicants. From just browsing numbers twins, anyone who applied with a 168 to 172 got at least $120k

Boston College has a class size of 230, down from 245. No news on medians.

No joke, at a restaurant in New Haven a local resident struck up a conversation with me that ended with the advice that I should consider transferring to Quinnipiac for my 2L/3L year because it's "just down the road and probably cheaper than Yale." She was very earnest and very nice, but the conversation as a whole was pretty amusing.BigZuck wrote:What's a Quinnipiac? Wow.
edit: wait, they were intentionally cutting class sizes due to funding right?
I didn't know that Quinnipiac had a law school. Wow on those numbers either way.

Well, the 25th/75th GPA and class size declined slightly. But considering Yale's size, it's no surprise there wasn't really a decline. Interesting enough, someone got accepted with a 3.13 GPA.longlivetheking wrote:wow. lsat & gpa didn't even budge?? what can i say.Power Clean wrote:Yale's C/O 2016 profile:

You might be too generous (as in GW's medians decline might be bigger). Last year, GW's class size decreased by 76, and GW still had a massive .22 decline in GPA (from 3.82 to 3.6).wtrcoins3 wrote:

They had a massive decline in class size last year. I wouldn't be surprised if they were going into survival mode.longlivetheking wrote: honestly an increase of 86 is absolutely bullshit in this cycle. is it because they over-enrolled by over-admitting to hedge against medians?

I am wondering how will the person with LSAT of 152 can compete with other students with much higher LSAT 170 + ?wtrcoins3 wrote:I'm impressed with the 152 LSAT admittance....KevinP wrote:Well, the 25th/75th GPA and class size declined slightly. I think will be a great challenge for the person with 152 score.

I feel like Yale is trolling us with that 152. That, or that person discovered the cure for cancer (or is that 4.23 with other amazing softs/money).

Yale students do not compete. They all go on to greatness, together, hand in hand.indo wrote:

They also have a somewhat small endowment given their rank, especially considering their class size and the cost of living in their market. So one would think their ability to absorb the shock of declining class size (and their ability to buy their way out of declining medians) is lessened more than others. Georgetown actually falls into this same category. Given all their lay prestige, they really don't have much of a nest egg.KevinP wrote:You might be too generous (as in GW's medians decline might be bigger). I suppose if a bunch of top schools do the GW thing they'll eventually starve the TTT beast.

Interestingly enough, he's a non-URM. 3.1/177.
I can't find where exactly the story was posted, but the gist was that he had some absolutely insane story for awful grades his freshman year and then a 3.8+ the rest of the way. Plus baller softs.

Credited. On the other hand, you do have to wonder if a 152 is going to struggle with things that come naturally to the rest of the class. On the other hand, class rank is as close to irrelevant at Yale as it can be. Even the worst student in the class will be okay job-wise.longlivetheking wrote:Yale students do not compete.
