Why do people give a damn about these rankings? Miami still owns the south. No 11 point increase in rankings will me a damn. Cardozo according to you rankings experts is close to gutter in NY is now a " T1" It is not going to help them vs Fordham. NYU and the other T14s.

Who gives a damn if the rankings change each year? I really doubt GW is going to struggle placing students in DC.

Rankings are trash. They should only be based on NYC biglaw prospects, the only thing that matters.

But in reality Fordham places like a top 20 (or top 18 school). I think some other people might agree with me when I say this should be reflected at least a little bit more in the rankings.

Go ahead and finish at or around bottom 1/3 at Fordham and another t20. Then tell me Fordham places as well as a t20.

Uh, not that I don't doubt your particular story, but my guess is for every one of you, there are 100 of me (with a 161, a HIGH GPA, great softs, etc.) who were rejected within weeks of Berkeley receiving my application. Although their rejection letter was definitely the nicest I've received. Ever.

I believe I was fortunate enough to have someone on the adcomm advocate for me pretty passionately. Not all 161s with high GPAs and great softs can be admitted (unfortunately!)...I'm just saying that you are more likely to get into Berkeley than into Harvard with those numbers, just because of its admissions approach. Just sayin'. Sorry about the rejection

Either 2 things will happen: DC market will be dismal like everywhere else, or people's projections that it'll be the place to be because of government/regulatory growth will pan out. In the latter case, the T14's will opt to go there anyway.

Instead of sticker at Fordham/GW, taking lots of money at a school ranked below them but still T1 or strong T2 is the right thing to do, provided you're willing to drop out if you don't meat GPA stipulations. Flexibility will matter a lot more than ephemeral placement statistics.

Whats up with Northwestern's continued drop in peer assessment score?!

Columbia, Michigan, Virginia, and Georgetown all slipped too, and it doesn't look like anyone increased in the T14. Maybe some people were in a bad mood? (Incidentally, peers weren't averaged over 2 years, just lawyers/judges who have much lower response rates & more volatility.)

Anyone have any idea why IU-Indy dropped 19 spots? That's a HUGE plummet. I was considering going there, seeing as they are my only acceptance, but now, not so much...

Edit: Let me be clear, the reason why I am probably not attending is not really because of the rankings. There are many other reasons why I will more than likely be withdrawing my offer.

It isn't supposed to be placed on shelves until Thursday, but this newsstand put it out early. It's probably been received by bookstores everywhere. Yea for vendors who don't listen to the almighty USNWR!

USNEWS always lists the number 100 schools in T3 as well. Same with last year (I have the book in front of me)

The rankings are trash. They are for people on post on here with such low self esteems that they define themselves by what ranked school they go to. For the most part people who post on here have no social life. And their only reason to be happy is to say i go to a higher ranked school then you. Law firms don't give a damn about rankings. They care about reputation not rankings. Pacific McGeorge was never a good school.

I think they do that every year. I don't have my 2009 book in front of me but I believe Syracuse was listed in the top 100 AND T3 last year.


edit: this is making me regret my withdrawal from Penn State a bit.
Oh well, if I knock out the June LSAT I shouldn't have anything to worry about. le sigh

Im just so glad the median stats didnt shoot through the roof like many posters predicted. Stats are definitely up, but I was worried that I would have to retake to raise my 170 if I wanted to go top 10. Looks like I will be ok for the most part, as long as I dont screw my GPA in the last 2 semesters.

Is anyone planning on changing their apps next cycle in light of the new rankings? Im pretty much forced to go ED at Columbia now (still dont have a chance but its the largest reach im applying to), but no major changes for me.

Just so you know for next cycle, median numbers are usually available shortly after the time class starts... schools update their websites and usually include that information. Someone had a list on TLS showing the 25th/median/75th gpa/lsats for the top 25 or so schools. You'll be able to see the Class of '12 stats before you begin applying to most schools.
