well, now i'm slightly upset. do you think i should solicit waivers from schools that normally don't grant them through email but do CRS search (like Penn and apparently UT)? i have no gpa so they never gonna find me there but i don't want to annoy them either

I'm not sure how it's worked in previous years, but to get a fee waiver from NU, I was told you need to go to the application page of their website, click on the "Fee Waiver Request" link, and fill out the form. They will then send you a waiver code within 24 - 48 hours. This will work until December 15th.

From the Northwestern Website:

How do I request an application fee waiver?

We are offering application fee waivers to all JD applicants who submit an application from September 1, 2016 to December 1, 2016. More information may be found on our Apply page. After December 1, 2016, applicants may submit an application for a need-based application fee waiver. Each year we also offer fee waivers through LSAC's Credential Referral Service. In order to be considered, be sure to check the CRS box when registering your LSAC account. If LSAC has provided you with a fee waiver, please email us a copy of that letter with your request for a fee waiver specifically from Northwestern Pritzker Law.

Got Emory, UT, & Notre Dame unsolicited today (and some other random ones).

Would you all recommend waiting until Oct. LSAT score to solicit? I have a 164 from June & my GPA isn't the prettiest  That's why I've been holding off so far.

So where exactly do the fee waivers show up on LSAC's site? I received a wave of unsolicited waivers today and noticed they don't appear when selecting "Start App" on LSAC's site. Is it similar to the hidden fee waiver where you won't see it until you're at the payment screen on each individual app?

Successfully solicited Chicago and Virginia for AmeriCorps waivers. Just attach proof of your service (can be printed through the AmeriCorps online portal) in a short email, include your LSAC #.

Penn and Berkeley both have online forms to fill out for requesting service waivers, just check the fee waiver section on their websites. I submitted the forms for both yesterday. Received my Penn waiver already, still waiting on Berkeley.

There must be other schools that offer AmeriCorps waivers, these are just the ones that do of the schools I'm applying to.

I know sometimes it'll say "waived" next to the application fee section. Otherwise if they sent you a code you enter it at checkout.

For ones that specifically sent you a fee waiver code, you have to put it in most of the time.

Does it take a while to show up? I got non-code waivers from UT and NDLS, but on the initial LSAC school page for each it's still showing the full app price.

Did you open the app and look at Step 3: Pay fees and submit?

Application: Waived
Report: $30

Any splitters get a fee waiver (solicited or unsolicited) from GULC? They were "unable to grant my request" for a fee waiver.

So far I have:

Unsolicited Fee Waivers: Vandy, Mich, W&M, UT-Austin

Solicited: UVA, WUSTL

Exact same boat as you. GULC turned me down with almost identical stats.

I did get one from Duke so you could try reaching out to them as well.

Yeah, I have a fee waiver from GULC. Higher GPA, lower LSAT.

Edit: It was unsolicited.

Current list of my fee waivers (all unsolicited, not including some that I had no interest in so deleted):
Duke
Emory
GULC
Michigan
Texas
UVA
Vanderbilt
WUSTL

Haven't tried to solicit any fee waivers yet from the schools I'm missing (Cornell, Columbia, NYU, Chicago, Penn, GWU)

Edit: Northwestern fee is waived for all applicants prior to Dec. 1!!!!!! (via their website)

I was able to get one from GWU. High LSAT / Low GPA, just asked via email and was given a code.

Awesome, good to know. Wasn't sure what they were doing fee waiver-wise because I was having trouble finding it on their website.

Actually, my mistake. I had looked at the wrong email when I posted that. GWU actually told me that they're going to waive the application fee for all first-time JD applicants this year.
