Re: Toby Stock call
I think he only asked me about my summer job because it came up in my PS. Don't freak.

Bump.
Dawg, how long after you went complete did you get the call? I'm surprised it took them so long with those numbers.

"I applied right before xmas."
As did I. Guess I'm being impatient, if someone with your numbers just got an email last week. I'd be curious to know if you go complete next week, just for a point of reference.

Re: Toby Stock call
My numbers are similar to his, and I went complete on the day of my interview. Assuming the same holds for him, he the complete date will probably be next week.

OK, so I got the email.
People have been very forthcoming about how the conversation goes. But I'm curious; does anyone know for sure if there's anything you should AVOID saying? Besides the obvious?

Can it be assumed that nobody gets into Harvard without a TS call?

Congrats benny! My heart jumped when I saw that this thread had been updated - I'm thrilled that I got the email, but waiting for the call is brutal.

ts1!! Mixed feelings on how it went, mainly because I was nervous and stuttery and probably unclear. Glad it's over though and that I only had to stare at my phone for 1 business day. Good luck to those getting calls later today!

Wait when did you get the e-mail! Argh am I getting a call today????
I'm sure you did fine. He probably thinks it's cute when people get all nervous.

That's what my dentist says EVERY time! Seriously, I hope I get a call tomorrow. I'm hyperventilating.

Nip, they can't admit me and not admit you. That would be a crime against humanity at this point. You've got 5 LSAT points on somebody here who was admitted. Hell, you've got one on me. We're .05 apart on GPA. Seriously, how could they not bite?
For people that have talked to him... does he do most of the talking? Because I'd really like to avoid saying something egregiously stupid just to fill up time. Or using expletives; because I can imagine myself doing that, out of sheer habit alone.

Re: Toby Stock call
During my call, he hardly talked at all. He would ask a question, I would answer for a little bit, we repeated that process five or six times, and that was it. I felt like I talked most of the time, but I'm not sure if that's the typical experience.

Re: Toby Stock call
I definitely did most of the talking. He asked a typical question, waited for me to finish responding, and then would ask either a brief follow-up or just move on to the next question. (The latter made me kind of nervous: did his lack of response mean I said something totally incoherent?) Sigh.

Re: Toby Stock call
Mine felt more like a regular conversation ratio. He would ask a question, I would answer, he would wait for me to say everything I was going to say (he never interrupted me) and would ask a follow-up question or a clarifying question. Maybe I was doing a bad job of saying what I meant and that's why he kept engaging on the same topic. On second thought, I was definitely doing a bad job of saying what I meant!!snap wrote:During my call, he hardly talked at all. Then he would ask another question, etc.
When I asked him my questions, he talked a lot. I sort of felt like he was plugging Harvard, which made me feel good. But I was also feeling something PTSD-like, shaking from adrenaline, and thinking about all the ways I had messed up, so...yeah...then I got in a few weeks later. That part was awesome.
