Not sure which Michigan you guys are referring to, but I just received a Michigan State waiver.

Michigan = University of Michigan-Ann Arbor (USNWR #10)
Michigan State = Michigan State University (USNWR #82)

Added MSU to the tracker.

What's the protocol for soliciting a merit-based fee waiver? I'd like to take a shot with both Georgetown and UVA since I live in northern Virginia. Thanks for any help at all.

+1, mine looked pretty much identical and I have the same exact list of waivers. GULC took a few days to get back to me when I solicited them, though I did so toward the end of the week.

How long did it take people who solicited a fee waiver from Georgetown to get a response?

Sent my request on July 18, got a response on July 23. Others have gotten theirs quicker.

Seems like it could go either way.

Does NU send out in waves, perhaps? Or do hidden waivers? I know Michigan went in waves but that's also snailmail... As far as NU goes, I'm at the median GPA and above the 75% LSAT but somehow missed the boat on this one

To answer this and the person above who asked- I got Northwestern over email about a week ago. Northwestern sent the email notifying me that my fee is waived, but their waived is technically "hidden". They didn't give me a code, just let me know that when I go on to LSAC it will already be waived.

I got Michigan in the mail this past weekend. I have no idea if it is hidden or a code. It was sent to my home address and I'm at school, but my parents are putting it in the next passage they send out so I'll know soon enough.

Update: As I was typing this received a solicited waiver from UVA as well. Sent the email to them about 2 hours ago.

I asked WUSTL for a merit-based fee waiver yesterday and I got an e-mail today telling me that they are not charging an application fee this year

I'm a little confused because it seems like some other people have mentioned that WUSTL gave them a waiver.

Email. I was surprised, as I had taken it off of my list of schools but the fee waiver put it back on .

On another note, updated the spreadsheet a bit with fee waivers on that tab and appreq stuff on the appreqs tab.

I just tried to solicit WUSTL (they told me to check in mid-September, but why wait ) and got the same response as crowing:

Hi shadowofjazz,

We decided just today that we will not be charging an application fee this year. Our application opens up on September 1 and you should be able to apply at no charge (excluding the CAS report) at that time. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to receiving your application.

No, this was need based. You fill out the form, send them a paystub or a W-2 and they make a determination.

or a financial aid award letter from your undergrad if you're still there (which I will do if they don't give me the merit based one).

On another note: this is a reminder that if you receive a fee waiver unsolicited (or solicited) AFTER you apply and AFTER you submitted $$, contact the school to find out what the reimbursement procedure is (if any).

Another another note: I like how some of the law schools' websites have gotten better (GULC and Penn come to mind)

I should mention that in my email request for a fee waiver, I included a line about a year in AmeriCorps that I just got done completing, and that was specifically cited as the reason why I was getting the fee waiver from them.
