I still can't get over WUSTL's insanely large class size.
I wonder how many people they convinced to defer.

Along these lines, any thoughts on why Hawaii had such a big jump?Dirigo wrote:I still can't get over WUSTL's insanely large class size.

Living in Hawaii can be a nice way to spend a few years, but it is not like beaches in the Pacific are a new phenomenon.

I know quite a few people here that said they wouldn't consider ND because of the whole conservative thing. While I know the law school is not the undergrad, I can definitely see that. Plus, they don't give out full-rides right?ManoftheHour wrote:Why is ND so unpopular? Notre Dame is conservative with tuition discount "scholarships" for anybody who isn't at/near the 75th percentile of GPA/LSAT (going based on LSN) but I also understand that many people are in the mindset that the school doesn't feed a distinct job market. Their Biglaw/Fed Clerkship numbers are comparable to a handful of the "T30" set but unless you're in the running for such a job, who the hell knows where you'll end up working.
LST has 57.1% of their grads working in an "unknown State." That's potentially frightening.

I don't really think it's the conservative reputation that's scaring off applicants. I would bet it has to do more with the fact that ND isn't very generous with scholarship money. If it had thrown out full rides to 166+ applicants (like some t20 schools have been doing the past couple cycles), you bet their medians would be much higher than what they are now.
Plus, as some have mentioned, South Bend isn't exactly the most exciting place in the world. If you don't like football you're in for a long three years haha.

The majority of applicants aren't on TLS and don't necessarily know which schools give what $$$ though...Moneytrees wrote:I don't really think it's the conservative reputation that's scaring off applicants. Theory: Notre Dame was a lot less aggressive in recruitment. I didn't get a single email from them, I got nearly 20 from WUSTL. Was it annoying? Sure, but I bet that's a large part of the reason WUSTL got so many applicants.

LST's 57.1% of grads working in an "unknown State" just means that those are grads working in states other than the top 3 states reported in the ABA Employment statistics. If you want to know where those 57.1% of grads are working, go to the Notre Dame website and you'll find a full list of every state. This statistics is anything but frightening. In fact, it shows that going to Notre Dame does not mean you'll be stuck in Indiana post-graduation (only 6.5% of student got jobs in Indiana).Wingtip88 wrote:Notre Dame is conservative with tuition discount "scholarships" for anybody who isn't at/near the 75th percentile of GPA/LSAT (going based on LSN) but I also understand that many people are in the mindset that the school doesn't feed a distinct job market. Perhaps scotty should be contacting the admissions office to see if he can arrange some sort of commission cut.phillywc wrote:Considering 60+ TLSers are there, it was def a factor. NYLS has gone from a class size if 641 in 2010 to 252 this year. I feel like sending them a thank you letter. Only posting this because I got an email from and thought I'd see how tttt of a school it is
