I agree that the increase in class size probably won't hurt your employment, but I can't agree that it will help or that you're employment "continues to get better".scottidsntknow wrote:I think in WUSTL's case we'll be fine. Class of 2013 had "good" placement with 300 grads, and our school's placement continues to get better. Talked with CSO and apparently our biglaw placement for 2Ls is also markedly improved, and at least in this case I don't see the small class size being the main reason for this. Firms aren't opening up more spots for WUSTL kids because there are less kids, considering NYC firms only usually take one/two of us a year anyways.bl1nds1ght wrote:I'm wondering how these drastic increases in class size will affect future employment stats. WUSTL did it, Iowa did it, I think there may be one or two others who gradually lowered class sizes since 2011 and then shot them back up again.eriedoctrine wrote:Holy shit how did they increase class size by 100 and still hold a 166?
Fuck how rich is WUSTL? Increasing rank and reputation prob also helps.

We already had that one covered. Those stats were previously released.Varianz wrote:Another strong showing for the 7-point drop competition. Also lawl. What a joke.
Still waiting on Suffolk...even a one-point drop this year pushes them to -8 since 2010.

Re: C/O 2017 Median LSAT/GPA/Class Size (New Stats!!!)
I can only hope WUSTL decreases their class size next year. I'm from the class of 2013, and there's still a ton of people looking for legit law jobs.
Even in the JD-required, long-term jobs category (the "success stories" in the LST statistics), this includes people working as solos making nothing, people working in shitlaw with pay so low their either living with their parents or not making any progress on their loans at all, working "full-time" government positions with no pay at all, etc. And that doesn't account for the ~100 people from my class still looking for anything at all. I know multiple people in each category still looking for any hope at all of paying off their loan debt 17 months after graduation.
The CSO knows they can only place somewhere around ~100 students each year in a halfway decent law job. The fact that they went back to admitting ~270 people really stings, unless it was a completely unexpected mistake.
They need to reduce their class size to 150 or so, because there's simply no more positions than that open in the Missouri and Illinois legal markets each year. And that's probably a high estimate.

Staying at 160 would be TTT since they were "167" before, and dropping into the 150s would be just lawl.

It's already been posted. 161 Median, no GPA yet, but it's probably around a 3.6. Class size of 158

Emory is developing a huge spread between the medians and the 25%.

Call me an elitist, but I don't think a 158 should get you into a T20 school under any circumstance, but I have a feeling GW's 25th will be even worse.el madrileno wrote:Is that 25% really expected to compete? 158 is a little rough. I think it's a little smaller than it was last year but they have no choice if they want those medians.

Last year, Emory's 25% was a 157. It seems like all they care about is maintaining solid medians.el madrileno wrote:Is that 25% really expected to compete? 158 is a little rough. Emory's 25th was 161 for the c/o 2015. It seems like they've been hit by the drop in applicants, but negated it by gaming the numbers a bit.

I wonder what's taking GW so long to release their median. I thought the deadline was this week.

They also accept tons of transfers. 75 last cycle. Same as GULC and GW except Emory has half their class size.cannibal ox wrote:Emory's 25th was 161 for the c/o 2015. It seems like they've been hit by the drop in applicants, but negated it by gaming the numbers a bit.

From their site: "Students in good standing at other accredited law schools (ABA-AALS) may transfer to Emory Law after their first year if ranked in the upper half of their class."
I know of a few TTT/TTTT students right around median who transferred to Emory.

This. When I first applied, ND's median from the previous year was 166. And it was as high as 167 just a few years ago. They've definitely been hit hard. It's tough to know exactly why ND has seen such a steep decline in medians. Maybe it's because they've been pretty stingy with scholarship money the past few cycles. Employment numbers are better than some schools in the top 20.ManoftheHour wrote:This. They only had 2,400 apps, that is very few compared to t20s and probably most t-30s.Moneytrees wrote:And it was as high as 167 just a few years ago. They've definitely been hit hard.
