Probably a yield protect - they don't want a bunch of people who aren't really interested in attending to drop aps.JollyGreenGiant wrote:Wisconsin will not hand out merit-based fee waivers.
It sucks that I won't have to pay for schools like Georgetown and Michigan but I'm gonna hafta shell out $56 for 'Sconnie.

Have you started your online application already? I am just wondering if you get those explicit and "hidden" waivers only once you have started to fill out the application online. The reason I think so is that everyone is getting those waivers, and I still have to get one (except Minnesota), same score, 175 Sept. 2009. Is that because I have not started any apps yet?Mu2mEVXER wrote:If CLS is Columbia then yes. I e-mailed Georgetown for one, and they told me they couldn't offer me one! I'm 4.0/168. Is 168 really that bad??? I got them from Duke and UVA...

Stats? I know I'm a bit below "comfortable" at Columbia, but I figured they'd at least want to invite me to get rejected... I'd love to be able to apply to my top choice for free!soullesswonder wrote:Add me to the Georgetown ranks. My tally of T14 waivers stands at:soullesswonder wrote:Vandy waiver by email - finally!

I haven't started mine yet either but got waivers, although mostly from schools that weren't even in my school list (inc. Columbia that I added to the list later). I have been receiving waivers 1-2 days after everyone else so maybe yours is still in the tubesFevsi wrote:Have you started your online application already? No and not really planning on it. I wish these were tradable.

Don't my numbers seem low to be getting fee waivers from them? Are most fee waivers based on LSAT?
FYI to everyone else, with the above stats I've received UVA, Michigan (hidden), Northwestern (hidden), UCLA, Texas (before Nov. 1st), BU (hidden). Also a few other lower schools.
Nope - I'm not a URM. What do "hidden" fee waivers mean?

Re: 2009-2010 Fee Waiver Tracker Thread
Hidden waivers are those that applicants have found only by "submitting" their application through LSAC. Right before the payment confirmation page (note: you don't ACTUALLY have to submit anything to find this), there may be a note that your fee has been waived by CRS waiver. This is the "hidden waiver."Lauren2255 wrote:astro1819 wrote:Are you URM? From what I'm hearing, this is probably a misnomer, as we expect all fee waivers to be formally presented through email or mail within the next week. It seems the system is a little bit ahead.

Yup, shot them an e-mail just for the heck of it and they sent me a code within 12 hours.

Re: 2009-2010 Fee Waiver Tracker Thread
I just say who I am, what I do, and what my GPA and LSAT score is. I follow that up with saying that even though I don't qualify for a need based waiver, this process is very expensive and that I would greatly appreciate a merit based waiver. Also give your LSAC ID.amidea wrote:what do you say when you email asking for a fee waiver? do you have to give a reason?
It's as simple as that. Short and sweet.

I requested a merit-based waiver from Fordham and ended up with a 1 page "need-based-oriented" fee waiver application in my snail mailbox a few days later. Submitted that on Monday, and I'll provide an update if I hear anything.daniel5215 wrote:anyone got fee waivers from Fordham?
Since I have a full-time job I'm not expecting it, but maybe they'll take pity on my non-profit salary combined with my NY address?!
