Am I reading the ABA's website correctly? Because from what I can tell, it looks like schools aren't mandated to post their 509s until December 15.

"Standard 509 Information Report

Posting on law school web page must be: conspicuous; readily accessible; with prominent way to find information from law school homepage. Posting of info also on admissions/prospective students main page.

At least the current report;
posted by December 15"

http://www.americanbar.org/content/dam/ ... eckdam.pdf

Will the ABA have them available before then?

Another strong showing for the 7-point drop competition. Also lawl. What a joke.

it's proof they inflate tuition and use scholarships as a marketing/recruiting technique
and it comes at the grave expense of the remaining 18.6%

if they just offset it with cuts in aid (which i suspect) i don't know that it will change much
could be interesting to see if students respond to reduced tuition vs increased aid, but will hard to draw conclusions bc of all the other factors

that's factored into the $76k figure (covers all students)

so the initial award is likely higher than $76k, it just gets reduced by 3L

Holy shit how did they increase class size by 100 and still hold a 166?
Fuck how rich is WUSTL? Increasing rank and reputation prob also helps.

The law school has a sizable endowment, and the school is definitely using this money.

Our endowment is also huge relative to the size of the student body and I'd assume that's why we can give out so much money. Less than half the size of GULC with a bigger endowment.

I was feeling bad about my school's medians until I saw what happened to Brooklyn. Good lord that is disasterous.

I'm wondering how these drastic increases in class size will affect future employment stats. WUSTL did it, Iowa did it, I think there may be one or two others who gradually lowered class sizes since 2011 and then shot them back up again.

GW did it last year, and this years OCI was a clusterfuck. Hard to predict in other types of hiring.

Good point. I'm just really kind of surprised that IA, WUSTL, and GW didn't stay the course with smaller class sizes. Obviously there's more to it than strictly employment stats (operating budgets, I'm sure), but still, I find myself wondering about the reasoning behind re-inflating classes.

I think in WUSTL's case we'll be fine. Class of 2013 had "good" placement with 300 grads, and our school's placement continues to get better. Talked with CSO and apparently our biglaw placement for 2Ls is also markedly improved, and at least in this case I don't see the small class size being the main reason for this. Firms aren't opening up more spots for WUSTL kids because there are less kids, considering NYC firms only usually take one/two of us a year anyways.

I guess when you admit tons of Jews, especially back in the days when no one else would accept them, good things come of it in the future. Props WashU.

They had a slight increase in apps and they did lower their GPA median by quite a bit. A ton of splitters I take it, probably a very low 25th.
