I, too, received a fee waiver from NW with a 158/4.0 so I'm immediately suspicious. Anyone else out there with low numbers receive the same email this morning?

160/3.73 Fee waiver at Northwestern. I am retaking though...so maybe? Weird, but flattering even though I know it doesn't really mean anything.

I know that UGA and Bama were both very liberal in giving out fee waivers last year, with the latter even giving away itunes cards. Anyone know if we can expect them to give out fee waivers again this year? I plan on applying to both, should I hold out and wait for potential fee waiver or just suck it up and apply now?

I called UGA in August to find out when they would be accepting applications, and, after revealing my GPA and LSAT (3.90/167), I was immediately granted a waiver (they did not wait to verify with LSAC that these numbers were correct, they just gave it to me); just send them an email, and they'll probably give you one.Kchuck wrote:I know that UGA and Bama were both very liberal in giving out fee waivers last year, with the latter even giving away itunes cards. I know I have a Northwestern fee waiver... but still no email.
And, I love that the Northwestern app won't let me choose "0" as my number of years of work experience.

Even though I got a fee waiver I'm still not applying to Northwestern. I have no full-time, post-college work experience, and I don't feel like throwing away the $12.

Northwestern waiver, 165/3.8
I think it's pretty obvious when they flat out state that the waiver is in no way a statement on your chances of admission and it doesn't say anything along the lines of..."based on your numbers, you're a great fit!" like some other waivers state.
It's basically a waiver for 12 seconds of their time and a quick rejection for my numbers, anyway

northwestern here too...I think they're trying to increase their number of applications cuz it seems like most of us have no post-college w/e and weren't planning on applying

Yea got it with no w/e here too. Not applying. It really sucks too. Northwestern might have the best location of any law school.Spykuh wrote:northwestern here too...I think they're trying to increase their number of applications cuz it seems like most of us have no post-college w/e and weren't planning on applying

FWIW... I got a Northwestern fee waiver too, but I've been out of undergrad for 4 years now. My work experience isn't the greatest, but I've got a graduate degree. I'm not sure we'll ever know who Northwestern is targeting, but I figure, for 12 bucks its worth a shot. May open up another option later on. I also wasn't planning on applying before I got the waiver.
Just my two cents.

What did you put in your email? Did you just let them know you were interested, stats, etc.? And to whom did you send your email?Barbie wrote:Inspired by this thread to ask UGA for a waiver (pretty much thought they would laugh at my face) and they gave me oneyay yay yay ! They have no way of knowing either of these things unless you are applying straight out of college. FWIW, I am 4.5 years out of college with 2 graduate degrees...Spykuh wrote:northwestern here too...I think they're trying to increase their number of applications cuz it seems like most of us have no post-college w/e and weren't planning on applying

But, on a more positive note... I got the NYU waiver/booklet in the mail today (I saw that my fee was waived about a week ago, but it's still nice to have a booklet with pictures to add to my folder
