2013-2014 Fee Waivers Rolling In Forum

Just out of curiosity, are there any T14 schools you would not apply to without a fee waiver?

Northwestern, GULC, UVA. Also a fee waiver from Duke persuaded me to apply. The only non-T14 schools I am applying to are USC/UCLA which both gave me waivers but I would've applied anyway because I am from California and currently live in Southern California so they are my "safety" schools I guess. Though I hate that term because it feels like I'm jinxing myself. The reason why I wasn't considering applying to some of those schools without a waiver is that I am a CA baby and want to live my life in CA after law school so if I have to leave CA I'd prefer for it be somewhere like NY. I know the weather situation is going to be a shock no matter where I move outside of CA, but if I am going to move I'd like to at least experience a full on metropolis.

I was just thinking this the other day and actually looked up why the T14 is the cutoff. What I found is that since the US News Rankings have been around the T14 have pretty much remained the same schools. They obviously move around amongst themselves within the T14, but for the most part the actual schools remained the same. This was only after some minor looking into it.

Yeah, got that Harvard email. My numbers aren't close to Harvard so I automatically assumed it was just some basic info. I feel for anyone seriously considering HLS who thought it was anything else.

I'm at their LSAT 75th but below their GPA 25th and I saw that email show up and thought "no way is this what I think it is." Then, after reading it, I knew I didn't just happen to hit the lucky jackpot somehow. I reluctantly came to this thread to confirm that I was indeed not a special snowflake.

Why does Cornell hate me? I got fee waivers from Northwestern, Michigan (need based), and UVA but Cornell rejected me for merit and for need-based waivers. I really wanted to apply there but cannot justify the huge price.

This just reminded me I missed the law fair at UCSD last week. Michigan is one of the last ones I need and it would've been that easy. Damn.

Sorry if this has been answered, but is there a list of schools that auto-waive the application fee for us poor folks who got the LSAC Fee Waiver?

I believe all of the T14s except Yale, Stanford, and Northwestern auto-waive for LSAC need based waiver recipients. Stanford and Northwestern have applications where you submit some info and your verification letter and hopefully waive it. Not sure if Yale has this. Hope that helps!

never got a snail mail or e-mail waiver from mich but i got an e-mail today from the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association that essentially said "we heard you got a fee waiver so we really want to encourage you to apply."

so i guess this means i have a hidden waiver? or maybe the admissions office just messed up...:/

I got the regular email sans the waiver from my June exam. I'm hoping they send me a new one with the waiver.

It sounds like you have a hidden waiver. My Michigan waiver was also hidden.

If you're looking to apply to UT, they don't honor the LSAC waiver but do have a separate process for need based waivers.

Got the Duke PT thing in the mail. Lol at the weather comparisons...though that is something to consider if you're considering Duke and peer t14s. That COL difference between Durham and the major cities is fairly substantial, as well.

Really, no NYU or Columbia? Your numbers are stronger than mine, coins. So definitely this means that waiver = don't get too excited, you're not that special.

Indeed, it makes sense I'd get the NYU waiver. According to myLSN, I'm about a 60% admit there paying sticker or close to it.
