I got Valparaiso last night as well (my first one), but I didn't reset and don't have an official LSAC GPA yet. So maybe not.

I have yet to receive any post-reset. I did get some for the last cycle right after I took the LSAT, but nothing since May-ish.

Has anyone ever called LSAC and just straight up asked them if there is anything people who took the LSAT earlier than June can do to be included in these waiver waves?

I don't really think it is an LSAC issue. LSAC just has the database and you are searchable up to a year after activation (from searching archives). The schools are ultimately responsible as the schools select the search criteria in CRS searches.sanetruth wrote:Has anyone ever called LSAC and just straight up asked them if there is anything people who took the LSAT earlier than June can do to be included in these waiver waves?

Re: 2011-12 Cycle Fee Waiver Tracking
You can straight ask the school to issue you a merit fee waiver if you are someone who would be eligible but for the fact that you took the test before last June.
A little more work on your part (an email per school) but it makes the application free.
. . . Anyone else feel like it's unfair for the students most likely to be admitted to have their application fees paid for on the backs of those who are less likely to get in and do not receive a merit waiver?

The people who receive free swag are always least in need of it. See, e.g., any celebrity gala where the wealthy and beautiful are gifted with things that most mere mortals would lust after hardcore. Also the rich buy their way into tax breaks.kritarch wrote:You can straight ask the school to issue you a merit fee waiver if you are someone who would be eligible but for the fact that you took the test before last June.

Is it unfair? Yes. Is it one of those things that we should spend a lot of time obsessing over and turn into a cause? Lol no.

Re: 2011-12 Cycle Fee Waiver Tracking
Just an FYI I received an email from UC Irvine (I registered at their booth during an LSAC forum) and it said they would be waiving their application fee this year. Not sure if this is common knowledge but I thought I would post it.
This is copied from the email:
"Finally, to demonstrate our commitment to access, our admissions application is free, and we will award substantial merit aid to the class entering in Fall 2012."

Re: 2011-12 Cycle Fee Waiver Tracking
Got GULC yesterday.
A few others that I solicited waivers from:
UCLA: said they will begin accepting requests on August 22.
USC: said they will send them at some point in the future on Friday afternoons to anyone at or above BOTH medians only (167, 3.64)
UT: said they have a "need-based" fee waiver that could be requested once applications open, but made no mention of merit-based waivers.
Northwestern and Vandy both said they would send them to CRS candidates at a later date.
Michigan did not offer one but said I would probably receive one later on, leading me to believe you need to be at or above one of their medians, but not necessarily both.

have you changed your expected enrollment year to 2012 on crs?Adm.Doppleganger wrote:They just send them bros or brosephinas. You got be registered/give permission to LSAC via that CRS thingy I believe. I have not gotten any which makes me upset. I got a bunch last year. I feel like some people who also were around for last cycle's fee waivers also have not been getting their yet.
Am I to understand we'll get ours later?

Re: 2011-12 Cycle Fee Waiver Tracking
There was a reset - i.e. opting out and back in - that a few of us did. We all had high hopes that it meant our fee waivers would start pouring in. As it happened, they did not.Adm.Doppleganger wrote:Yeah. I did.
I just went thru and checked everything and it should be good to go. I got a bunch last year but I didn't take the LSATs until October so I got a lot in November. So I'm basically pretty sure they'll come eventually.
What's this CRS reset thing? Are they just talking about setting it to attending in 2012? I did that.
As a fellow last-year-taker, I would not expect to just be sent any this year without soliciting them. I think we're going to have to request them for each specific school or retake. If I can get my PTs back into the range that I got in December, the $140 and 5 hours would be worth it for well over $1000 in fee waivers. I'm pretty legitimately scared I won't get nearly as many without this LSAT batch as I did last year, even with mass solicitation.
