i love NYC but if money is a concern for you, COL here is fucked-up crazy. and once you come you'll love it so much you'll never want to leave.sibley wrote:My boyfriend seems to think I need to apply to ALL of the NYC schools. Because, according to him, it's one of the top places I'd like to live. I think he's mixing us up, or wanting me to want to live close to his hometown.
If they send me fee waivers I will. But...It's not my top choice for location. Too cold. Up there, but not top.

They haven't sent me one... maybe they know I'm too NE elitist to go for it? Or maybe they didn't send any to anyone with a GPA lower than their range despite LSATs

Well, despite the quick response from WUSTL (over break!) and UVA sending me one today, I'd guess that Cornell and Penn sort through a lot more requests, and thus might be slower to respond. I hope.

Just got Vermont Law. I could sate my far-left political and social hippie leanings there. If they gave me a ride. Maybe. That school is damn expensive!

Perhaps I should write the left-leaning schools to which I am accepted a page or two on hitchhiking. About when I've done it. And about how they should give me a free ride just like those clearly brilliant and better-off-for-it Italians did.kwhitegocubs wrote:Just got Vermont Law. Re: Post December LSAT Fee Waivers?
I've gotten quite a few fee waivers:
Cardozo
Iowa
Indiana-Bloominton
NYLS
All came after I received my Dec. LSAT score.

Re: Post December LSAT Fee Waivers?
I'm pretty sure that UF doesn't give out waivers. According to the UF website, the $30 application fee is a State of Florida charge and cannot be waived. This would probably apply to FSU as well. Sorry, but at least they're cheap!JCougar wrote:Anyone have any luck with Wisconsin, Florida, FSU or Stetson?
I've heard Wisconsin is reluctant to give them out. and Florida and FSU are only $30 anyways, but Stetson is one of my safeties and I really don't feel like paying the money for an application. My LSAT is way over their 75th percentile.

Re: Post December LSAT Fee Waivers?
How do you go about asking for a fee waiver? I want to request one from GW but feel tacky. I don't want to come off as arrogant or as if I have a sense of entitlement about my numbers. I also don't want to send the message that I'm not really interested but will apply if it's free. Can you share the e-mail you used to request fee waivers as an example?sibley wrote:I asked for some fee waivers yesterday and WUSTL got back to me within the day with one. But I do want to know about potentials. I haven't gotten any yet and my score went up 12 points.
Thanks!

Well, one way to soften the blow - if you don't want to come across as arrogant - is to just mention that the cost of apps adds up quickly, or something like that. You want to apply, but it would be easier if you had the fee waiver.democrattotheend wrote:How do you go about asking for a fee waiver? I want to request one from GW but feel tacky. Of course, I think it's not tacky or arrogant at all - they don't either. They think - hey, this person is a good student, and we WANT them to apply. The $50 they lose in potential application fee might be made up for with 100k in tuition.

GW claims to only give need based, and only if you have an LSAC waiver.

Re: Post December LSAT Fee Waivers?
Asked Oregon for a waiver today, and got it in 20 minutes!
So far, have received waivers for 18 schools, and am interested in another 4 that waive their fees this year. My list of applications is ballooning, but I don't mind since I want to cast a wide net and really have as many options as possible. I'm glad schools are generous, because I literally couldn't afford more than 6 or 7 apps if I wasn't getting these, and I really don't know which schools will offer scholarships or acceptances with the size of the applicant pool this year and the lateness of my applications.
