I mentally checked out of my job the day I got my first acceptance. I still like working there but its pretty obvious to everybody that my heart just isn't there anymore.

I'm going to drop the two week notice tomorrow. I just cant feign giving a shit about this particular job anymore. I'm thinking about spending some time volunteering at a legal aid clinic to keep me busy along with doing some traveling before school starts.

Another day of dragging my ass in and managing not to cry about it, or turn around and go back home.
The sound of my boss's voice makes me want to claw my eardrums.

Good luck!!! I hope it works out for you. That's exactly what I want to do....and I'm already living with my parents so I'm halfway therescaredstiff165 wrote:I'm going to talk to my apartment's leasing office tomorrow. If they let me out of my lease for a reasonable fee, I'm putting in my two weeks notice tomorrow!
Pray for me.
I hate my job and really want to move back home! I'd love to take up a part-time job with minimal stress and enjoy my last few months before law school.

Dear Lord, I wish I could just pack up and leave. My wife, though, is finishing her MA Ed., and she won't be done until the end of May. I'm stuck at this sad excuse for employment until then.

Um, I think you should probably call the office and ask them. I have no idea why anyone on this board would have a better clue than your building management.scaredstiff165 wrote:Hey yall! I was wondering if one of you could help me out with something. My apartment leasing office told me that in order to break my lease, I need to give 2 months rent. Anyway, do you think 2 months rent would mean February + March if I'm planning on moving out ASAP (like the end of February)? Or do you think it means February (because I'm still here) + March + April?
Thanks!

I hope our generation isn't like our parents and allow mindless idiots to run companies... I tuned out months ago, but seriously sometimes I wish that our companies required iq tests and photos along with resumes like asian companies do... That automatically would weed out a signficant porportion of fat idiots

One of the most annoying things to me is that the requirement of "proficient computer skills" is completely overlooked.. my friends and I have an endless supply of stories of people not knowing how to Cut and Paste, Save, Email Attachments.. etc.
Also, there needs to be a school on the uses of CC: and Reply All...

Re: So, anybody ready to quit their jobs yet?
I'm in a bit of a conundrum now..... I was planning on putting in my two weeks so I could move closer to home. I have another job offer beginning in March.
So the boss calls me in to his office, tells me to have a seat, and here I am thinking I'm about to be laid off, which would have been awesome. Instead, he gives me a raise. Seems like I should be happy about that, but how do I put in a two weeks notice now?

I think they know that something is up, that my mind has been elsewhere with this law school thing. They're one step ahead of me.scaredstiff165 wrote:Do you have to give a reason? I got screwed- was planning on working until mid-summer so I could pay bills, but was just laid off from a legit corporate law job...severance is sweet and everything, but no legit place is gonna hire me for a 6 month commitment...I'm gonna end up at burger king

I am so ready to quit. All the management at my job treats me like I'm a stupid two-year-old. I have bills though and my husband got laid off so I don't have much choice. I'm hoping to quit mid-July and have at least a little time to chill before jumping into law school, but we'll see.

Re: So, anybody ready to quit their jobs yet?
My boss wrote an awesome letter of recommendation for me, so he knows I'm outta here soon. But since he was so helpful to me, I've decided to not 'check out' until I really leave. No need to burn bridges, and I want to end my previous career as a Software Engineer on a positive note. So I'm putting together the best software I can for our big show next month. When I leave, I want everyone to wish me well.
