Hehe, so I wasn't as successful as previously thought in steering you away from Harvard?Pumpkin wrote:congrats! Dean Z really is the coolest. i really think i'd be 100% committed to Michigan were it not in Michigan. and if Harvard werent' sucking me in so effectively

ha, well some serious doubts remain about the big H, but right now, the biggest sticking point is moola, particularly with the Darrow to contemplate..

Re: Darrow Invite
I've narrowed it to Michigan, Harvard, and Stanford. I might have other considerations in the (seriously unlikely) event of a matching offer from Berkeley or a Hamilton, etc.Pumpkin wrote:FULL DARROW!!! holy god. Now what the hell am i going to do??? where are all you people who already got them leaning??
I'm not really "leaning" either way. Harvard has some great positives, as well as some super negatives. Stanford is generally great, but has little coursework in my area of interest. Michigan sounds amazing (and even more amazing when it's free!) ... but is in Ann Arbor. Needless to say, my wife is not excited. I'm hoping school visits clear things up...

Re: Darrow Invite
i am in a similar position. Getting into Harvard didn't eliminate my other choices but I think with the Darrow, it's down to Harvard, Michigan and NYU. NYU is the big wild card b/c i have no scholarship offer yet. Anyone have any insight as to whether its better to approach schools (like NYU, Berkeley, Columbia) now and wave the Darrow and Harvard or wait to see what they offer first?

Full Darrow!
Pumpkin, it totally worked out!
I am so happy right now but I have no idea what I'm going to do! Maybe I'll start a poll but I'd love to know what others think. I'm not sure what I want to do but I have no interest in academia (maybe I'll change my mind in 30 years but for now, no) and have been thinking a lot about clerkships, politics, or corporate law (I know! I'm all over the place!)
I've narrowed it to H, S, C (Hamilton), and Mich (Darrow).

Re: Darrow Invite
Congrats everyone!
I'm currently leaning Harvard (Boston, boyfriend, and Berkman Center being the big three reasons why...) but I had a very nice exchange with a Michigan professor about the IP offerings at Michigan - it's still in the race, especially depending on how my financial aid turns out.

I just got into Michigan today! I know my numbers are good enough for a Darrow invite but I'm worried it's too late. Does anyone know if there will be another round or do you think all the offers are out now?

Re: Darrow Invite
Congratulations on getting into Michigan! I have no idea when the cut off is for a Darrow invite but I didn't see anyone on LSN report a Darrow after the end of January last cycle (I didn't really look that hard). I did see some Dean's Scholarships though for February admits so you still may be in for some money. Good luck!sammyjoey wrote:I just got into Michigan today! Re: Darrow Invite
I would assume they'd continue to send out Darrow Invites for a bit longer. My essay wasn't due until Feb. 2., so they definitely aren't done. (At least I hope not)

Just got a Darrow invite this morning. I received the packet yesterday and applied right before Christmas.

Do you think the notification for the Darrow award (the 2 week timeline ends today) will be pushed back due to Presiden'ts day? Do they typically notify people within the time period they set out?
