I spoke with the dean of a law school last week. He mentioned that some of the schools that took a huge hit to admissions numbers -- it was the first year everyone was audited externaly -- so perhaps it wasn't just the overall dip in applications. That's an interesting rumor (just speculative) for everyone.

When overall admission applications are down does that have a significant enrollment effect on the upper tier schools? Wouldn’t the worst case scenario be that they have to decide whether to take applicants with lower stats or else let the seats go empty? Do you have an opinion on what they'll likely opt for?

For the lesser select schools I can see where lower apps could be problematic. If apps were down 20%, isn’t the upside that there are 20% fewer jobless grads?
