You are mistaken. Notre Dame is well regarded as an undergraduate institution and that is about it. Their business school is nowhere near the top 5.

Most lay person ideas of prestige are formed by 1) sports 2) undergraduate program ranking

It's hilarious how many people are impressed with my MA from USC (wasn't that hard to get into). Everyone knows the football team, so they assume the degree is great. It did get me a job though...

ND is perfect where it is. It belongs with GW/BC/BU/WUSTL, etc, not Vand/TX/UCLA.

Just to dispel this myth, ND's undergrad business is not #1. According to USNWR anyways.

So... in other words, what I said? Saying your business school is number one because it was randomly ranked so by a publication no one pays attention to for rankings is like saying your football program is number one because someone on the Bleacher Report says so even though the BCS rankings have it at 25.
