Yeah, I am looking for others. I would like to keep my debt under 100k, I am debt phobic. I have lived and enjoyed living in the south and west. I would also like to live in a big city, as my boyfriend will be coming with and needs to be able to get a job. He is a lawyer who works for a private business currently. I have some family connections for him in Dallas, Denver, and Seattle.

Well, then... I would have to say that you would be hard pressed to beat SMU's placement numbers, or their strength in market. If you like Dallas, they are certainly a strong candidate. If you hit that 160's goal, I would think you would get major $$ from them. I did, and I don't have near those numbers.


However, I would still stress that UT may be within your reach, with the right LSAT.

I'm almost your numbers twin, and I will be attending UIUC with $$'s this year. Before Romo tells you the same, you might also try WUSTL, as they are very splitter friendly... ALMOST went there myself.

Not a URM. That's only for your race/ethnicity.

Why not throw W&L or Wake on there?

I keep going back and forth with those two... I feel like I'm applying to too many schools. Is that absurd?

I think you might be able to get a waiver from WUSTL, at the very least...

As far as the number of schools... I applied to several more schools than you have listed here. If I had limited the #, I might not be where I am today!

You can apply to many schools. Your GPA is low, but that 167 is helpful.

WUSTL seems to like high LSAT's, so definitely throw an app their way.

You seem to want to stay on the East coast. You should get money from Wake and probably W&L as well.

If anything, apply to more schools like Wake / W&L and less to school like Suffolk, Quinnipiac, etc. You're going to crack the T50 for sure, with money. Probably the T30, maybe with some money, and a moderate shot at the T20.

I've pretty much accepted that beefing up my work experience is what will get me into a program. That, and maybe doing an MS in a related field will help. There is the LSAT and minority female thing I have going on, but I need to overcome a serious low GPA. Wish I had a time machine.

GPA will be 3.78 at the end of summer
LSAT was 160

Miami safe school

I think I'm looking at waitlists and entry at UM. I'd really like to try for Alabama but I know I need atleast a 163 for a shot. Any opinions here?

Your chances at UF and FSU are exceedingly small with a 159. A 161 is a safe score which ought to get you in. You will get into Miami, but you are unlikely to get much money, if at all. So it's not worth going to. So it's not a real safety. Your shot at 'Bama is miniscule. Basically, without a higher retake, the chances of UM (no money) being the only school you get into are very high. So you've got to bank on doing a good retake. Even a couple points can get you UF or FSU.

I talked to admissions people at UF and FSU recently, and they said I was @ 80-90% at admit, which to me means I'm in unless I F-up, and they said to try and get at least 1 more point on the LSAT to assure some scholly money. The FSU guy said 164+ get the best scholly offers, and even a few ppl with 163, but I have a 3.3 GPA so ehh. Your numbers split the way mine do, my LSAT is @ 75% or higher, and my GPA is @ 25% or lower. Yours being the exact opposite of mine leads me to believe you would have chances the same as mine... And I was pretty sure I'd get money from UM. Am I wrong to think this radlaw?

You mean to tell me that they told you exactly what their numbers cut offs were rather than spew some BS about, "We look at the application holistically and take more into account than mere numbers"?

Check LSN to be sure, but Miami, because it doesn't travel well outside S. FL, is not even the best school in the market (tied with UF), in market that has other players (T14+Emory, FIU, Nova), and with a high COL isn't that great of a bet without full tuition. Even if you got some money from UM, I still wouldn't go.

At least we're not some dirty rust belt backwater like... all of Illinois other than Chicago!

I'm worried that UF, even though it's the best school in Fl, is going to be troublesome being in Gainseville... Not very much of a legal market there

But it's the most prestigious school in FL, bar none. You're not going to be looking for jobs in Gainesville haha.
