Anybody heard from Utah? Forum

i live 5 blocks from the U law school and am considering attenting BYU just for finacial reasons, i want to go to the U but for half the money i can get the same education elsewhere.

I would tell that to the U. BYU is their direct competition, so if you are accepted there, the U might have some motivation to keep you.

163/3.51 with some pretty strong softs and a solid PS. Surprising, since I got $$$ at a higher ranked school. However, it was the best thing for them to do. I would have only gone if I got a pretty large scholarship, which they probably wouldn't have given me. Still wierd though, since LSP had me at a "stong consider."

My numbers are right at the 75th percentile and I had one of my letters of rec from the VP of the university of utah. I got waitlisted today at the Y and am really wanting to hear from the U. I am starting to think this is ridiculous!!!

any thoughts?

I'm waiting too, but I'm not nearly in the same situation as you. You have much better numbers and that LOR is great. I wouldn't worry though. You should be fine.

Is Utah one of your top choices? I would call the admissions office and let them know you are anxiously waiting and would at least like to know a timeline. Ms. Arteaga and Dean Aguilar have been really nice every time I have spoken with them. I did this with BYU a couple weeks ago and they were able to look at my file and give me a ballpark figure of when I would be hearing. It will at least make you feel better about waiting.

ya Utah is my top choice next to the Y and seeing I am waitlisted there the U is probably the top now. I need to send some money to UNLV today but don't know if I should or not. My other option is University of Arizona, but it will be about 17k more a year than UNLV.

What should I do???

I'd call Utah right now and tell them you'd rather not send money to UNLV, considering Utah is your top choice, but that you would like to at least know a timeframe for a response so you can plan accordingly. If they know that deposit deadlines are already here for you they might be more likely to expedite the process for you.
