Re: Latest employment data
just to be clear
i am NOT advocating this as a ranking of any kind
i was responding to yomisterd's comment, i was interested in the answer myself so i compiled this
i'm not saying this should affect anyone's decision, or that it's meaningful in any way
this is not a ranking

TIL that Skadden hires from GULC but not Cornell. Have the seeds been planted for GULC's return to the #13 slot?

sry should have made that clear

Re: Latest employment data
i just double checked my work b/c that didn't sound right to merpupkin wrote:TIL that Skadden hires from GULC but not Cornell. Have the seeds been planted for GULC's return to the #13 slot?
and it turns out there actually was 1 c/o 2013 cornell grad placed at skadden
so cornell's actual number should be 17.1%
well done cornell
btw i posted in part so y'all can correct any mistakes i made, plz let me know if you find any

S&C for H should be 22. You missed it in calculations tooBrut wrote:i just double checked my work b/c that didn't sound right to merpupkin wrote:TIL that Skadden hires from GULC but not Cornell. Have the seeds been planted for GULC's return to the #13 slot?

Re: Latest employment data
it's nlj data, the exact same data they use for "go to law schools"Tiago Splitter wrote:Sure hope S&C hired more than 7 people
usually incomplete, which is one of the reasons i shit on that ranking all the time
but gives a broad view
most of the others look right to me
wlrk is super low too, but that's not unusual

Re: Latest employment data
@redsox
the nlj data, unfortunately, is going to be incomplete, as discussed
if we want to do a deep dive, we can split up and get the info directly from firm sites instead
then we'd really have the full picture
i'm down to do this if others are

Re: Latest employment data
hmm it looks like the problem is that s&c number
misterd, redsox, and tiago have all found issues with it (eta: tho i'm not sure where D's number came from)
so maybe that's the only one we need to do manually

Re: Latest employment data
NLJ just didn't have the number for S&C New York. Bastards didn't respond to the survey/website wasn't updated by the time NLJ went to print.

Re: Latest employment data
Is there a NLJ250 link that shows where each firm hired from in 2014? I found one for the c/o 2013 a while back, but I haven't been able to find it again (or one for 2014).

Don't, it's a giant waste of time. I mean if you want to knock yourself out. But it's just not something that's all that interesting.Brut wrote:although actually now that i think about it
cornell is probably super nyc heavy
so that probably explains part of it
still, impressive
i'm actually going to re-do this using grade selective firms (as opposed to just v10) when i have the chance
probably this weekend
If BL + FC isn't a great metric because of self-selection then parsing out data on who the "really prestigious" firms hire is worse.
NLJ Data is fine for this purpose as is.
