Re: 2011-12 Cycle Fee Waiver Tracking
Would anyone mind PMing me a "solicitation template"? Don't know what it should say, and currently don't have an LSAT score. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Q: Do they mean I have a better shot?
No. They just want to increase # of applicants so they can reject more people.
Q: How do you get them?
CRS on LSAC. Look around. You can also e-mail and ask for them. If you do, basic form:
Hello,
I am really interested in applying to XXX Law School and am writing to ask if could be considered for a merit-based fee waiver. My LSAT is 1XX, GPA is X.XX, and my LSAC # is #######.
Thanks,
Eager Applicant

Any idea when those of us who took the October LSAT should start getting unsolicited merit-based fee waivers (hidden or otherwise)? Trying to decide if I should hold off sending in my apps.
I'm especially interested in Duke's PT.

Would need-based waivers appear on the application? If so, would there even be a negligible boost due to recognition of financial hardship?

Also interested in this. I'm guessing end of this week/next week. I'll probably wait 'til Halloween before sending my apps.whenwin wrote:Any idea when those of us who took the October LSAT should start getting unsolicited merit-based fee waivers (hidden or otherwise)? Solicited waiver from UGA today.
I've gotten fee waivers for all of the schools I've applied to, save for my super duper reach (where I didn't ask), which makes me pretty happy. I still feel like I've paid out the ass for all things law-school-related, but I think I did pretty well for my numbers (3.2, 166).

How late do they keep granting fee waivers? Is it worth it to wait a couple of days before applying in case I get a fee waiver for my October LSAT score?

You can get retroactive fee waivers, they'll send you a check in the mail if they give you a waiver after you apply.wildcat25 wrote:How late do they keep granting fee waivers? Is it worth it to wait a couple of days before applying in case I get a fee waiver for my October LSAT score?
Regardless, I would shoot them an email asking for a waiver right now.

Whether or not you get a waiver can be a bit of a crapshoot. Being competitive at a school helps, were you soliciting schools you're competitive at?croser wrote:right after i got my lsat score yesterday i sent thirteen schools requests for fee waivers following the template. only two said okay. did i do it wrong--should i have waited for the october lsat wave?? when do october lsat people get waves anyway???

My LSAT was within medians--170, my GPA a little below--3.47. This just blows balls, I was really counting on getting them. Only UCLA and Arizona State said yes. Do you know when October LSAT waivers go out?

Last October, if I remember correctly, the waivers trickled out over the 2-3 weeks following the score release.croser wrote:minnbills wrote:Whether or not you get a waiver can be a bit of a crapshoot. That's odd. Hang in there though, I was denied at BU and BC initially but they later sent me waivers.croser wrote: My LSAT was within medians--170, my GPA a little below--3.47. And yes, schools will start sending out their next batches of waivers over the next few weeks.
