Hmm odd. I unfortunately already paid the fee beforehand (went complete 9/30). I don't need it anymore, so just trying to help any TLSer out there!IsThisForReal wrote:Got the same email. I already applied and they just now sent me one, but the e-mail states, "If you apply, submit payment and do not use this code, neither FSU Law nor LSAC can refund your application fee." Let me know!

Re: 2014-2015 Fee Waivers
Brand new to this site, so I apologize if this has been answered before, but is there any reason you would receive no fee waivers? I took the September LSAT, scored in the 99th percentile, and have a high GPA as well. Based on my numbers I was expecting to receive at least a few unsolicited waivers from schools, but as of today I haven't received one. I've double checked the email listed on LSAC and my spam folder and still nothing. I also do receive the occasional marketing email advertising a given school, but still no waivers. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar and if this is unusual, something I should be concerned about, etc...

That seems very unusual. Have you checked your CRS application year? Trying clicking on 2014-2015 again. At this point, though, you should probably just email schools directly and see if you can get them.BrianFantana wrote:Brand new to this site, so I apologize if this has been answered before, but is there any reason you would receive no fee waivers? Re: 2014-2015 Fee Waivers
I'm right at median for Cornell on GPA and LSAT.
I tried to solicit a waiver a few weeks back and got the standard CRS response.
Today, I get the "we found your name through CRS and encourage you to apply", but no waiver.
Is Cornell just stingy or what?

Did you check the bottom of the email? I've heard that they put waiver information at the end of the message.PowerHungry wrote:I'm right at median for Cornell on GPA and LSAT.

you are not URM. asians, non-mexican/PR hispanics etc. are minorities, but don't get the URM boost for law school admissions. yale only gives out need-based fee waivers.grizzlybear wrote:So YLS sent me a packet encouraging me to apply, and identifying me as a minority. I'm a 169 3.8 so not normally competitive for Yale. I'm technically Asian (although not Chinese, Indian, Japanese, or Korean) so not traditionally a URM. I'm confused, am I a URM? And is the fee waiver they told me to apply for need based or merit based?

Re: 2014-2015 Fee Waivers
How does the URM boost for Mexicans work? Is a first generation Mexican American on the same footing as someone whose ancestors were here during the Alamo? Would seem weird if that were the case. Wouldn't see a reason why they should get a URM boost but not other Latinos.xylocarp wrote:you are not URM. asians, non-mexican/PR hispanics etc. are minorities, but don't get the URM boost for law school admissions. yale only gives out need-based fee waivers.grizzlybear wrote:So YLS sent me a packet encouraging me to apply, and identifying me as a minority. Yes, both your hypothetical Mexican-Americans would get the same boost.Seoulless wrote:How does the URM boost for Mexicans work? Is a first generation Mexican American on the same footing as someone whose ancestors were here during the Alamo?
We could start this discussion, but Nony seems plenty busy already.Seoulless wrote:Would seem weird if that were the case. Wouldn't see a reason why they should get a URM boost but not other Latinos.
