Re: C/O 2017 Median LSAT/GPA/Class Size (New Stats!!!)
Anyone know what UCLA's reputation is with scholarships? It's an extremely expensive school but they've managed to still do quite well in medians the past couple of years. Are they know for being more generous than UT/Vandy?

Not in my experience -- they offered me significantly less than both and wouldn't make a counter offer.Moneytrees wrote:Are they know for being more generous than UT/Vandy?
They seem to like GPAs more than UT or Vandy though, and I was a mini-splitter.

They spent a lot of money for high those above their medians but they still enrolled a ton of people at sticker.

Nice hold. I wonder what their class size is.

I don't think I've ever come across a school like ASU. The undergrad school is poorly ranked and mainly considered to be a party school, but the law school that is ranked highly and on the rise.

Eh, I think Bama is probably comparable. I'm sure there are some others too.Moneytrees wrote:I don't think I've ever come across a school like ASU. The undergrad school is poorly ranked and mainly considered to be a party school, but the law school that is ranked highly and on the rise.

That's a good point. ASU is barely ranked as an undergrad school though.Winston1984 wrote:Eh, I think Bama is probably comparable. Low cost, awesome winter weather, urban environment, new law building being built.Moneytrees wrote:I don't think I've ever come across a school like ASU. The undergrad school is poorly ranked and mainly considered to be a party school, but the law school that is ranked highly and on the rise.
If you don't care about Biglaw, and want to start or continue a life in the Southwest, then it's a decent option.
Objectively, peer* UIUC is probably a smarter decision in regards to employment, but who wants to spend 3 years in snowy Champaign when you could be in Tempe wearing shorts?
ASU is likely an option many Southern Californians consider with a good scholarship. (Not saying they should, if they want to return to CA, but still..)
ETA: By "peer" I mean public state school rankings peer that would likely offer similar scholarships.

Emory had a 5.8% decrease in apps so they probably took a hit in numbers.

I agree. Also, both ASU and U of Arizona are pretty generous with scholarships.Dirigo wrote:Low cost, awesome winter weather, urban environment, new law building being built.Moneytrees wrote:I don't think I've ever come across a school like ASU. I don't know. Emory has a lot of money to throw around for scholarships. Plus, it's rise to 19 this year could have positively impacted yield (although TLS generally scoffs at small USN moves like this, I'm not sure the general applicant pool does).MikeJD wrote:Emory had a 5.8% decrease in apps so they probably took a hit in numbers.

The reason TLS scoffs at changes in the rankings is because they don't effect employment outcomes. However, I would agree with you that changes could actually impact schools quite a bit. Look at BC, for example. And I'm sure Washington and Lee is going to see a big drop in its medians.JCougar wrote:I don't know. Emory has a lot of money to throw around for scholarships. Anyone else looking forward to Cooley's stats?
Fall 2010 enrollment was 1500+; last fall 582 enrolled; I wonder how much further the numbers will fall this year.

W&L surprisingly held.Moneytrees wrote:The reason TLS scoffs at changes in the rankings is because they don't effect employment outcomes. Edit: Oh wait. Nevermind. Just checked the spreadsheet. Didn't someone report that they held awhile back? Or was that proven to be false?

There any official source on GULC's new medians? Couldn't find anything on the website.

Oh dang...I feel sorry for all the TJ grads who may have to explain to future employers why they didn't complete their legal education because their law school defaulted and shut down...byronmullens wrote:I can't wait to see Thomas Jefferson's medians...looks like the school is like many of their grads...unable to payback their debt. /http://abovethelaw.com/2014/09/thomas-j ... perations/
